a rare knife by Lagioule standards By spark IV from Blockville, New York on 11/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade, Smooth Locking Mechanism, Very functional Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: To be frank I carry it for a status symbol. As a Francophile this is a tool that's as good as it gets that wears and works well with my Euro style
By Wharf Rat from Missouri on 11/09/2009 Best Uses: Camping, Hunting Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Generally, very nice and a good value. As noted in other reviews, the brass work could be more flush.
Simple Elegant opens too easily By STW from Rocky Mountains on 06/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade, Smooth Locking Mechanism Cons: Opens way too easily Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good width and shape for a hunter handle, but the hollow ground blade doesn't strike me as the kind of blade you need in a hunter. Fishing, yes. Smaller game, probably. Picknicking, camp chores, sandwiches on the train, definitely.
Brass pins are a great feature of these French knives, but these stick out noticeably from the wood and feel quite prickly. Wood must have dried since manufacture.
Lovely, light wood makes this knife stand out.
Opens way too easily. Knife will open to full lock with one sharp downward movement. Trying to decide if this is dangerous (may open unintentionally). Steel on steel contact without brass lining seems to work ok.
A nice knive that could be better By Mike from Northeast on 05/03/2009 Pros: Sharp Blade, Smooth Locking Mechanism Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Grip rivets are not ground smooth to the wood surface. I suspect the wood was not fully cured when the handle was made and shrank, revealing the rivets. The knive action is smooth and it seems sturdy and sharp. It opens and closes easily.
By happyjack from fl on 04/16/2009 Pros: Sharp Blade, Smooth Locking Mechanism Cons: Dulls Quickly, Poor Craftsmanship Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Knife has a nice look and case but the handle is very poor
By Bill from Oakland ,California on 12/26/2007 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade Cons: Poor Craftsmanship, Rivets on handle protrude Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This knife will have to be sanded and smoothed as some of the brass rivets in the handle are protruding.I will do it myself
By Bodoger from Colorado on 11/14/2007 Pros: Good finish, Good Weight, Tight lock-up Cons: Thumbstud to far back Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds Describe Yourself: Bear hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A good carry-along, back-up type knife. Has some weight to it, but is strong where it matters, solid bolster and liner. The thumbstud is a bit to far back for fast opening, but locks up solid
