Good all purpose snowshoe By Inti from Longmont, CO on 02/08/2009 Pros: Attach Securely, Stable Cons: Stiff ratchet releases Best Uses: All Terrain, Flat Terrain, Icy Conditions, Steep Pitches Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased these to replace a similar design, 12 years old Redfeather snowshoe. I have 37" expedition, 27" mountaineering, running snowshoes, and 30" western (round) tail snowshoes, but these are the ones that I grab most often. The v-tails work well as "rudders" for a fast descent. The Ultra bindings are secure enough for a steep, icy traverse and track straight if attached properly. No snowshoe will keep you on top of powder but these work as well as anything short of sheets of plywood or inner tubes.

By Wolfgang from West Bend, WI on 01/22/2009 Pros: Attach Securely, Compact Design, Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great snowshoe that is made in the USA! A note of caution: if you are near the max weight capacity of the snowshoe, go to the next size. I am 5'10", 170lbs, and I am happy I went with the 30". Please remember the average weight of your gear needs to be added to your body weight when calculating size.

No matter how much I tighten the bindings my foot slide foward and inward.

By Bill from New Hampshire on 03/01/2008 Pros: Attach Securely, Compact Design, Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: All Terrain, Flat Terrain, Icy Conditions, Off Trail, Rolling Terrain, Steep Pitches Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used them on new snow over frozen snow. Worked great. They are so much better than our old wooden snowshoes. Have not tried them in deep snow since our current conditions are new snow over old frozen snow. We hiked back into a river bottom where there were wet areas where the snow had covered the ground before freezing. Our previous hike there without snowshoes saw us up to our knees in water when we hit a soft spot in the snow. No such problems with the new snowshoes. Easy on and off and walking with them was like wearing regular hiking boots. One of our best buys from Sierra Trading Post.
