Just what the doctor ordered By IronHornet from Illinois on 01/27/2009 Pros: Attach Securely, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Deep Snow, Off Trail, Rolling Terrain Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I picked these up to get out in the rough to shoot nature photo's. Before heading out for the first time I was concerned that I may have to use poles to get around (as per the guidelines from RedFeather). Hauling a camera on a monopod didn't leave my hands fee to bring them along, so I went without them. Really didn't need them whatsoever, they (snowshoes)were very sure footed and quite comfortable to move about in. Spacing your feet slightly is all you need to do as well as be mindfull of the increased size of your footprint. These are a blast and help lower the heart rate quite a bit when going through deep snow as well as raise the pace. Gaiters would be a nice addition to this setup as the backs of your pants get pretty powdered. Highly recommended.

Need more time to evaulate By Mac from Rangeley Maine on 01/17/2009 Pros: Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction Cons: 2 diff bindings 1 loose, Noisy Best Uses: All Terrain, Deep Snow, Icy Conditions, Off Trail, Rolling Terrain, Steep Pitches Describe Yourself: Collegiate/Pro Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these snowshoes for my clients. I am a Registered Maine Guide in the Northwestern part of the state. 2 things that I noticed immediately about these shoes are 1. noisy in extreme cold weather. 2. major kick back of snow as high as the lowerback in deep snow. However, I do need more time to evaluate to try on various terrain and tempratures as well as on 4,000 foot hikes or higher. As a registured Maine Guide I guide 4-season adventures in all types of weather and would be more than happy to make arrangements to put your products to the test and write a review. Through my gudie service I provide in the winter, backcountry snowshoeing & mountain hiking, xc-skiing, snowmobiling tours, Moose antler hunting and nature photography. In the summer/fall I offer overnight camping by canoe, hiking, canoe trips in the Rangeley Lakes area, mountain biking, remote fishing as well as archery and nature photography. I have 35 years experience in all disciplines. Thank you, Caroleen "Mac" Dudley, Mountain High Backcountry Adventures Guide Service. [@]

Good for Compact snow/Trails and Running By Abdominal Snoman from Rutland MA on 01/13/2009 Pros: Attach Securely, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Cons: Difficult Entry & Exit, Kicks snow on back of leg, Sinks in deeper powder Best Uses: Flat Terrain, Icy Conditions, Rolling Terrain, Steep Pitches Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Ruin a x-country skiers day and get oout on snowshoes today. Great for trail and even icy conditions. Feel great with a jogging stride. Sinks in deeper powder.
Great Entry Level Snowshoe. By SnowMan from MA on 01/09/2009 Pros: Attach Securely, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Cons: Difficult Entry & Exit Best Uses: Flat Terrain, Icy Conditions, Rolling Terrain, Steep Pitches Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not for deep snow- if you are going in deep powder get a larger snowshoe/YukonCharlies. Great for natural stride, crampons really grip ice/snow on compact trails, great for jogging/running with natural tail action effectively shaking snow. Sinks in deeper snow but I'm pushign it at 175 lbs on 25"...but I prefer the mobility over weight dispersal. Actually feels more natural jogging than walking. Bindings stayed tight on 1 hr hike/run but a bit tricky to get in/out...saw othe rmodels with more stable bindings but no problems yet. Love going on unexplored snow. A bit bummed that Sierra won't refund the difference as the price dropped right after I bought these! A Steal at [$]...but I'm happy and I paid more. Images shared by: SnowManMan I love these things. I used to hate Winter. Tags: Using Product
