It's a keeper . . .
By MishkoVerified Reviewer from SF Bay Area on 11/06/2009
Pros:
Compact, Opens Easily, Well Made
Cons:
Inverts Easily
Best Uses:
Heavy Rain, Light Rain
Describe Yourself:
Trendy/Stylish Dresser
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Good to know this comes from Germany, the land of good engineering. The construction may give it a long life. I ordered two: one for the house and one for the car; and sent two to a friend, who normally goes through at least 2 or 3 cheap 'brollies a year. At this deep discount, definitely worth a small risk.

Well-Made, Lightweight Umbrella
By The Shrewsbury KidVerified Reviewer from Saint Louis, MO on 10/29/2009
Pros:
Compact, Dries Quickly, Great Protection, Waterproof, Well Made
Cons:
Difficult To Open, Inverts Easily
Best Uses:
Light Rain
Describe Yourself:
Classic Dresser
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
For years I'd had a Birdiepal umbrella -- the one with the fiberglass center rod -- and it worked extremely well, even in the heaviest wind and rain. This one is a different thing: telescoping and compacting, thus more fragile. The most annoying thing is that -- difficult to explain this -- the catch that holds the sliding ring in place to keep the umbrella open is slightly off-center from the hole in the ring, so I often have to move the ring around to find the catch. Other than that: a good, lightweight, quick drying and elegant rain solution. Would buy again.

Very lightweight
By Sandra from Indiana on 08/26/2009
Pros:
Compact, Opens Easily
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I've carried this around, but can't say that I've needed it yet for rain. It's very lightweight and compact; has a well-made sheath for storing and carrying. I thought the shaft would be metal; it seems more like fiberglass or something. This would account for the light weight. Opens easily and is better for sliding into a totebag or briefcase than my other umbrellas. Better-constructed for the price than anything else to be found.

Too flimsy to survive a sudden downpour-
By RetireeVerified Reviewer from Colorado on 08/14/2009
Pros:
Compact
Cons:
Difficult To Open, Inverts Easily
Best Uses:
Light Rain, Sun
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I find it hard to open, and it sometimes doesn't want to "catch" in the right position and inverts. The material is very thin. I will use it as an emergency umbrella and be glad that it doesn't rain much where I live.

I take this umbrella everywhere. It's described as a trekking umbrella but can be used anytime, anywhere. Wow! This umbrella is really light. I couldn't believe how light and compact it was when it arrived. Durability is also a feature. It's my favorite of all of the umbrellas I've owned.
