great rod for a great price!
By The Cadillac KidVerified Reviewer from MI on 07/05/2009
Pros:
Accurate Casting, Durable
Cons:
Too Stiff
Best Uses:
Fly Fishing, River Fishing
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I watched a friend snap an expensive rod unloading gear from his truck. He got lucky someone had an extra. I bought this as a back up but liked it so much it has become part of the rod rotation. Kind of stiff action but works great slapping weighted streamers for the big boys.

It's been a long time since I picked up a fly rod, after a few minutes of testing my rusty skills I found this rod easy to cast and prompted me to keep improving. You don't have to be rich to enjoy fly fishing ! Good Luck.

After breaking my expensive orvis fly rod twice in stupid incidences and feeling sick, I decided to buy 2 of these as a back up. A little stiff, but casts nicely with a 5/6 orvis reel. Not bad for [$]!!

Comments:
Bought these for my kids and friends to learn on and use. I was not sure these would be very good as they were under [$] and often you get what you pay for. However Sierra Trading Post does it again, these will be great for family and friends to learn and fish with. A decent rod at a great price. I will be able to take my kids, nephews, and friends with me fishing and not worry about these rods getting broken or lost. I bought more once I found out how well these are made.

Newbie to fly fishing and bought this rod because of the price. Found a hidden gem, because I practiced many hours with this rod and now Ive really excelled and excited in the things that I have accomplished with this rod. The reason is that I was not afraid to damage or even break this rod because of its price, but am very surprised with its durability..I even bought a second one. Cant beat this one to teach novice fly fishing.
