By Lucy the dog lady from Harrison, Ohio on 01/04/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great for ankles heels Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Train competition dogs Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good ankle support & WONDERFUL for my sore heels. The heel is very slightly curved so that the pressure goes to the outside of the heel rather than heelbone, so my formally painful heel is nearly mended. Yay!!! They have a LOT of cushion & feel good generally, even though unusually wide.
They run large, & I ordered 1/2 size smaller, which works, but maybe I could have gone a whole size smaller. The color was surprisingly nicer than expected -- a chambray blue that looks nice with blue jeans. I haven't had them long enough to comment on waterproofing, etc, but I love them as a tool to keep going on old, achey feet.
Great boot, but not for me By hikingal from seattle on 01/02/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I love Montrails in general, and they usually fit me quite well, but the heel cup was too wide for me in this model, and I had a lot of up and down motion at the back of the heel that would have given me blisters. Had to return.

By Peaches from SW Pennsylvania on 12/02/2007 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The shaft of the boot is very high, and stiff. Not well padded, and torture on down-hill hike on uneven grassy terrain.
This boot may work for a taller person. I am 5'2, and the back of the boot rode high up my leg, very uncomfortable.
Returned for refund.
