By jb from north hampton nh on 05/21/2009 Cons: Difficult Entry & Exit Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The boot ran small. I needed to exchange for a half of size larger. The style is nice and I'm looking forward to using it at winter time.
Very comfy boot, but it runs small... By fergus from Lewistown, MT on 05/13/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: After Skiing/Snowboarding, Cold Weather, Slippery Terrain, Snow, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are very comfortable and of high quality, just what I expect from Keen. They do seem to run a little small, though. I bought them for my wife (avid Keen fan), who usually wears a 10 1/2 in keen shoes, and a 10 in some of the keen sandals. I bought a 10 1/2 in the wintersport boots and when she put them on she said they felt quite small. I wound up giving them to my mother instead, who wears a 9 1/2 in her regular Keens. They fit her perfectly and she commented that they feel almost exactly like the size 9 1/2 keen shoes she had just taken off. It seems as though they build a 10 1/2 boot, then insulated it and didn't account for the bulk of the linings.
Bottom line, I highly recommend these boots but be aware that you might need a bigger size than you regularly wear.
By Merimer from Meadville, PA on 05/07/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Slippery Terrain, Snow, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love the style of these boots. They are very warm and comfortable. I bought these in May and have not worn them in the snow, however, I wore them at home and outside to make sure they fit well. They seem to conform to your foot the more you wear them. I did order a 1/2 size larger and realized that I will only be able to wear them with regular socks unless the shoe stretches with use. Overall, good quality, great look (it may seem like a weird shoe, but once you put it on, it looks great!) and good price.
By MA Working Mom from Marblehead, MA on 05/05/2009 Pros: Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction Cons: Bulky, Not Comfortable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These were very tight in my size, and very snug in the width.
run small but really cool otherwise By Vicky from Boston, Ma on 04/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Warm, Waterproof Cons: Difficult Entry & Exit, Don't Breathe Best Uses: After Skiing/Snowboarding, Cold Weather, Snow Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love the boot but too tight! Not sure why. Also a little hard to put on. Still-very cool and comfortable. Seem like they'd be great for snow.
not as comfortable keen sandles By luv2hike from Central IL on 04/22/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish Cons: Not a keen footbed, Very little arch support Best Uses: Cold Weather, Snow, Winter hiking or walking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I plan to use these boots both for winter casual wear and winter hiking. I bought these in spring, so it will be a while before I get to truly test them.
On the plus side, these boots are fashionable and lightweight. Also, they bend well around the ankle allowing for freer ankle movement than most winter boots, so I think they'll be comfortable for hiking (or snowshoeing).
On the down side, I expected these to be as comfortable as my Keen sandles. They're not. They don't have the same arch support and footbed. I will have to wear orthotics when I wear them for more support.
If I hadn't had gotten a bargain on them then I wouldn't be keeping them. But, for this price, and because they're cute, they'll stay. If I had tried on a pair in a store, I don't think I would have left with them.
As many have mentioned before, order at least 1/2 size larger than your normal size. Order a whole size larger if you want to wear thick socks.
Great boot - runs 1 - 1.5 sizes small By Woodsy from Duluth, MN on 04/21/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight, Warm Cons: Difficult Entry & Exit Best Uses: Cold Weather, Snow Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great boot for cold weather hiking and snowshoeing.
By exercisejunkienomore from Sussex County, NJ on 04/15/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This boot looked like the perfect marriage of a warm, waterproof winter boot that is really comfortable with one that has an aggressive enough outsole to actually do some trekking around in. Two things happened. I sized up 1/2 size but the boot was way too short. Went up 1 and a 1/2 sizes and then my heel was slipping in the boot. I also noticed that the fastener at the top of the boot was cutting into my shin and my sock was being pulled down, so that my skin was against the boot. I was really disappointed as I wanted these boots to work out. Had to send them back.
awesome but sizes run smaller By Esquias from Minneapolis on 04/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Cons: Difficult Entry & Exit Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had to return them...to small for me...they are beautiful...unfortunately no more available in the color that I like...so decided to get men ones...they are easier to put on... and more comfortable with winter socks
Its like walking on a cloud By The Only L from Georgia, VT on 04/13/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Snow, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: When I read the other reviews I purposely ordered large because everyone said that they ran small- I am usually a size 8 womans- I ordered a 9.5 b/c I wanted a little extra room to wear a heavy pair of socks. No extra room! A size 9.5 is about a perfect fit for a size 8- some wiggle room-but not room for heavy socks! But they are awesome- warm and cool looking and very comfortable!
