By gearhead from grand rapids, MI on 08/04/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Best Uses: Airline Travel, Backpacking, Camping, Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't gotten the chance to use this pack a ton, but I bike to/from work with it (~20 miles) and I've taken it for a weekend hike as well as a single use at the gym.
It fits really well, but if you are any taller, you might have problems (5'8" +). It has an even weight distribution, so while biking/hiking my shoulders or back never feel strained. It's extremely roomy and alot of nice storage pockets.
The downside is it is a bit bulky - definitely not the kind you can just throw over your shoulder and go with ... but then again, you wouldn't buy a bag that is 2000+ cu. inches to do that with.
Overall, it's a fantastic value for a weekend hiking trip (even a weeklong, if you brought the bare minimum) or for use in biking/rollerblading/basically any sport you need a pack to carry your necessities. I LOVE it! :)
Overall
Perfect for active student By ErinS from Casper, WY on 07/08/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good fit, Good Padding, Good support, Lightweight, Roomy, Strong Zippers Best Uses: Airline Travel, Backpacking, Camping, cycling, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been looking for a hydration pack that was roomy enough to carry school books in and comfortable enough to cycle with, as I'm a student and bike almost everywhere. I just got this today so we'll see about the long-haul, but I was impressed with the amount of space, number of pockets, size of the hydration-well pocket, construction, etc. I rode with it today also, and it has great suspension. It didn't really shift at all and was very comfortable. The straps are narrow enough that I didn't feel like I was wearing a man's pack and I was able to put my water, food, hoodie, extra bottle, dayplanner and school supplies inside without cramming. I'll be putting books in tomorrow and leaving some of the other stuff out so it'll change a little, but the pack felt comfortable even though it was full. I'm really impressed and I'm hoping to get several years of full use from this backpack.
Glad I bought this backpack By CS from Ohio on 07/05/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Best Uses: Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Well made with plenty of compartments and strong zippers. I purchased this bag to create an emergency "bug-out-bag", so I hope I'll never have to use it.
Would be a nice pack for short trips.
By Dinah from Felton, CA on 06/16/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Extended Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this backpack for my daughter who is a counselor @ camp and leads several over-nighters; she was thrilled to received this as with other backpacks her shoulders really hurt after a few weeks. This is consize (not too big but it really holds a lot) It is perfect for daily use and weekend trips.
Really fits a woman's body! By karriepotter from NJ on 06/14/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Space for 2 water bottles, Strong Zippers Cons: Not Enough Compartments Best Uses: Airline Travel, Camping, Hiking, Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have never had a daypack fit so well.
Great pack for the shorter woman By Nancy from New Cumberland on 06/13/2008 Pros: Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding Best Uses: Airline Travel, Backpacking, Camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I do not like to carry a lot and I do like comfort, so this bag is great. Also, I am short and this pack fit me. I had to cinch it the whole way down to fit me, but the shoulder straps were angled so that they did not rub my neck as other bags have done. I like having one big compartment to put most of my "stuff" into.
By mountian mama from Iowa on 05/22/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It fit everything I wanted to put in it. I am not very tall 5' 2" and it was just the right size. Very comfortable
My new traveling companion By trail stomper from Coeur d' Alene, ID on 05/07/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Holds a whole lot Best Uses: Backpacking, Packing my books around, Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought a Kelty (1000) about 5 years ago and took it all over Europe, through the mountains, and more, so I was confident in buying another one. If you're looking for a pack with tons of storage space and great support, this is the one for you. It would easily accomidate any weekend trip (or something week-long, if you're a minimalist). The only disadvantage is that the support straps on the waste are a little bulky when you're not using them.
By M from New Hampshire on 04/17/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding Best Uses: Airline Travel, Backpacking, Camping, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought it to replace a Kelty bag that had worn out after five years of hard use. Love the functionality- can go from weekend trips to dayhikes with ease.
My favorite pack - 3rd time around! By Tay from MT on 12/05/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Good Padding, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity Cons: Hoping the zippers last Best Uses: Day Hikes, Extended Hikes, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this pack - Have purchased 3 of them. Only complaint is the zippers blow out before the pack does! Hopefully the zippers are more durable!!! Have used backcountry skiing, hiking the Na Pali Coast, hauling text books, and summers working and camping out of this pack. Plenty of room for day at school to an extended weekend campout. Excited about trying a "womens" fit.
