Well made jacket, not very packable. By Harry the hiker from Virginia on 11/16/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Warm, Windproof Cons: Is NOT packable in itself Best Uses: Cold Weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this jacket to take camping with me. I was hoping that it would pack into one of its own pockets or a stuff sack. Alas, it does not pack into its own pockets and was too bulky and heavy for camping, so I had to return mine. However, it was a very well made and sturdy jacket and would be an excellent choice for someone who is not looking for minimal weight and/or packability.
By Sky Pilot Photographer from Hiawassee Dam, NC on 11/09/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Zip in any fleece coat Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As an outdoor photographer this jacket presents no obstacles in funtionality. The hood stows away unless needed then it goes with the flow of what I want to do and doesn't get in the way of a shoot. Also used as weather gear for Search and Rescue missions. Bought larger than needed to go over heavy clothing. So far it has done an excellant job of keeping me warm and dry.

The small size is a great fit for him. I read other reviews and realized it'd fit him perfectly.
More features than my older Lowe Alpine By Benjamin from Connecticut on 09/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a ten year old Lowe Alpine Jacket. It's mostly orange with blue sleeves and still functions fine. I liked the idea of a more conservative dark blue and this looks great.
I have one thing I don't like about this one and that is how many velcro patches run along with the zipper. I takes too much time to get it adjusted properly when putting it on or taking it off.
Stay dry even under a waterfall. By Lars from Pennsylvania on 07/10/2009 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a well designed albeit heavy jacket. The material is Triple point, a material that has held up very well in another Lowe Alpine jacket I have had for 8 years. The collar is fleece-lined, a nice feature in my book. The jacket is long - the bottom of the jacket stretches to your fingertips when you put your arms down. The jacket is also lined which adds to its weight. The zippers are "coarse" so a fine zippered fleece will not zip into it. The overall fit is big - my medium is almost the same size as my old large jacket. I ended up returning the jacket as it didn't suit my needs. For uses, due to its weight I would say it is best for casual things as I would want something lighter for summer protection and something a little more technical for winter. However for general protection it should be very dry and warm.

The zipper is a bit of a problem, especially for men used to a right-handed zipper. Moisten it with saliva to get it started.
Nice heavy weather jacket. Lots of pockets and closures.

Its long, so it extends down when you sit to keep your butt dry. Nice Jacket.
