The zipper on the sides are also hard to slide up and down for the first few wears as well. However, these boots are very comfortable and can take a good beating if you happen to be rough on shoes. I highly recommend this boot, if you like the look, give it a try.

I wore them all day running around at a kids museum on the first day with no comfort or fit problems at all. The leather is soft and good quality. I never know for sure whether I wear an 8.5 or 9, and these I ordered in size 9 and they fit great with some medium weight socks.

One drawback is that the toe area is a little bit narrow for my feet, but not so much so that its a problem (I wore these for 12 hours the other day with no real issues). I would be sure to order about 1/2 size up.

When I first tried them on it took me about ten minutes to get my feet into them. Having the zipper on the lateral side of the foot means that your heel presses down on the side of the shoe instead of slipping inside it. Once I got my foot inside I was a little worried because it felt OK at the heel but tight at the ball of the foot. You also have to wear high socks with these boots to prevent blisters at your Achille's tendon. But once I wore them a few times the problems have all eased. It's still a little bit of a challenge to get into the boots, but once there they actually feel pretty comfortable. And the thick sole, high heel, and placement of the zipper mean you can wade through pretty deep puddles with impunity.

The traction on the bottom of the boots will be very useful in snowy or icy weather. The boots are very well made; I suspect that they will last a long, long time.

I almost sent them back but when we had a snow/ice storm the day after they arrived I decided to try them. The first day they rubbed a bit. The next day I used nice thick socks and wore them for several hours. By the end of day three, they are comfy. Best of all they are cute but I walk like using 4 wheel drive /chains on snow and ice! I great buy. I ordered a half size larger than my shoe size to allow for heavy socks.
