Styling good, fabric too thin By outdoors girl from ri on 12/30/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight, Well Made Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Wanted a dress coat for work, liked the style. But the material was too thin. I first ordered the 12Pbut thought it was too short. then ordered the 12R and it was at least 4 1/2inches longer than the petite. Too long. Both were too thin for winter weather in ri.

What more could I ask for? The long length keeps my legs warm and gives the coat a certain amount of swingy movement. Lovely.
Very Elegant! I feel like a rich lady By DC Dress-Aholic from Penn Quarter, Washington D.C. on 12/13/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Versatile Cons: Could be much warmer Best Uses: Daily Use, Dressing up, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is THE coat to wear when you dress up! I received this coat from Sierra Trading Post about two weeks ago and have worn it every single day, whether dressed in jeans or in a dress or suit for work. This coat is exceptionally elegant and will flatter your figure beautifully. It does run large so order a size or two smaller - I got a four and I normally wear an eight. It runs large all over, even the size four is still a little loose. I could probably get a two and get away with it.
The other reviewers commented on the warmth of the coat. I live in D.C. and the weather in the winter is cold. The fur collar (it is REAL) provides excellent warmth around your neck. My only complaint with this coat is the level of warmth every where else. This is a beautiful coat but it is probably not your best choice for extremely cold days or days with high wind. If you live somewhere that is very cold, I would use this coat only for special occasions and not for everyday wear if you live in states like Alaska, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, etc. this coat will not provide the warmth you need for the brutal winter unless you layer and wear boots.
I am going to need some hidden buttons added to the bottom half of this coat. The wind can be very blustery here and the buttons do not go far enough down the coat - it will open in blustery conditions and expose your lower half to brutal wind and cold.
Even after having said all of this, I am still extremely happy with my purchase and I am enjoying my coat very much. It is very elegant and I get lots of compliments on it. DC is a fashion-conscious town, and the elegance and style I achieve wearing this coat makes me feel very rich!
lots of flare not enough warmth By vintage-lady-1948 from Pascoag RI on 12/09/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Well Made Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: this is a very flattering coat, lots of style for dress-up evenings out, however here in th northeast we also need warmth and aside from the silk lining there is no cold weather lining.
By T from Huntington, Vermont on 11/30/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Well Made Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was hesitant to order this coat since trying it on first wasn't an option. The coat fits perfectly and the price was fantastic. I'm a little concerned as the coat is a bit lightweight, but am hopeful that the wool will be plenty warm on those cold New England days. The fur collar is a real treat.
Absolutely gorgeous coat. By 3 dog mom from Port Orchard, WA on 11/20/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm, Well Made Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been looking for a dress coat for some time. I looked at wool coats, cashmere coats, but couldn't find the right one in my price range, until now. This is an unbelievable buy. The lambswool is soft and luxurious. The fox collar is lovely, and it's attached with buttons, so it's easily removable, making this a more versatile coat. Collar or not, though, it is very dressy and probably not something I will wear for everyday wear. This is a long coat. The regular comes down to my ankles, and I'm 5'6 1/2". I wouldn't exchange it for the petite, though, because I want a coat that long for dressy occasions including dates with my husband. It is not too long, and it will work on a taller woman as well. I would advise women who are 5'5" or shorter to consider the petite. The "Fit & Flare" style of this coat is up-to-the-minute and flattering to every figure. It is a fairly lightweight coat, but as it is lambswool and fully lined, I know from experience with wool fabrics of this weight that it will be warm, but not too warm. I am tempted to send the 14 back and get a 12 because it really is a bit too big.
There was no way I thought I'd be able to get a coat like this for under $500, but here it is at my house for a very affordable price. Thank you, Sierra Trading Post!
