Some doubt about type of wool ?? By John, a satisfied STP customer for years from upstate NY on 07/29/2009 Pros: Beautifully made, Great Color Cons: Somewhat coarse wool Best Uses: Casual Wear, COLD WEATHER Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this sweater for my daughter because it is labeled "merino wool" and I like the manufacturing and style. When I opened the package I found the wool to be somewhat coarse and probably itchy. The labeling is silent on the words "merino wool"; instead, "new wool" is stated in two places. I was thinking that this might be a mixup in some way. Perhaps it is the large size of the weaving. Returning to the websight I ordered #84531 (also by J.G. Glover and similar style) and returned this item. STP customer service is having the inventory examined. I would recommend this sweater with this exception noted.
By Nature Lover from Santa Rosa, CA on 06/25/2009 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I was very pleased with a different product by the same make so I ordered two of this sweater in different colors. I sent them both back. They felt itchy, looked very old-fashioned (and I am old), fit funny. They were just not for me.
By Jennie from Chattanooga, TN on 05/25/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Soft, Stylish, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Even though this sweater is 100% wool, it is not scratchy and feels more like a cotton sweater. Very nice looking and great quality. I agree with others about the buttons, but one suggested backing them with buttons which I plan to do. I look forward to enjoying this product for years to come. Thanks!

By Kiki from Sarasota, FL on 03/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Night Out, Special Occasions, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This sweater blew me away when I took it out of the box - more beautiful than what you see in the online picture. The ONLY thing that I had to do was sew the buttons on more secure - but from reading posts before I ordered the sweater I knew I would have to do this. I love this sweater and want to order it in the dark brown. Love this sweater!!!

Wear it inside the house on cold nights and outdoors on warmer days. Does the job. Have not washed it yet so cannot comment on that. Really like the product!

By A sweater fan from Phoenix AZ on 01/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Great Color, Soft, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Really warm and beautiful Aran patterns. If it had pockets it would be perfect, but it's very close. Well made, good yarn, should last a long time even with regular wear.
By LJC from Plattsburgh NY on 01/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Soft, Versatile, Warm Cons: Accumulates Fuzz Balls, Buttons too loose Best Uses: Basic daily winter sweate, Casual Wear, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As noted by a previous reviewer, the buttons were too loosely secured. I backed each one with a small shirt button, and now the buttons are fine. Also, the wool yarn was a bit too loosely textured for my preference, but tightened up nicely after a hand wash and slight shrinkage. Now the sweater fits loosely but comfortably.
The dark brown color works well with many of my office clothes. Like most wools, the yarn does pill, but the fuzz balls can be easily removed.
