Much lighter than described By that guy from North Cascades, WA on 04/17/2009 Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Much lighter than described online. Less than a pound in size large! This would be great but not if you need the burl of the weight listed. Don't expect it to hold up in the underbrush.

By Danger D from Salt Lake City, Utah on 12/18/2007 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've used this shell for backpacking and back country skiing. It's very waterproof, windproof, light-weight and takes up very little room in my backpack. And the pits zips and meshed chest pockets keep it extremely breathable. However, this is only a shell. It has little to no insulating value whatsoever. But it is easy to layer clothing under.
Perfect All Round Jacket! By Delmarco from Westchester, NY on 10/20/2007 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Plenty Features, Versatile, Waterproof Cons: Loose stiching, Not very warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Ice climber Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great Jacket! I own a few Mammut tops and this one is my favorite go-to Jacket.
The Light BC is alot thinner and lighter than it looks, which is great for rainy Spring days or moist Autumn nights, but this is not the jacket you want for winter or snow sports (I learned the hard way) even though it is cool looking enough to hit the slopes with.
One problem is stitching quality. Even though the jacket's underside laminate is watertight the seam threads on the exterior looks to be regular cotton and a few of them around the cuffs and hemline came loose on their own over the last year of ownership. Other than that this is a perfect jacket for the price.
