Nice coat, just wish it was warmer By North Dakota Mom from Ray, ND on 11/08/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Really cute coat, just not has warm as I had hoped. My daughter will need to wear something underneath it when the temperature goes subzero here. But all in all a nice jacket.
waterproof fabric, warm, great By Brooklynite from Brooklyn, NY on 03/20/2008 Pros: Durable, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Our 3 yr old daughter has worn this for about 4 months now and it's great. We got this at a brick and mortar store in Portland, OR and were told (1) the fabric itself is waterproof, so it's not a coating that can wear out after washings; and (2) it's got insulation, but on very cold days, the kid needs to wear a fleece or sweater underneath. We have a 5-8 minute walk to/from the subway (in NYC) and it can get very windy, but she's stayed warm with the hood on and a fleece underneath. It's poured on us and she has stayed dry. We went snow tubing all day and she stayed warm, dry, and happy. Can't really hope for much more. We bought it a little big, so she should be able to get 2 years out of it. I do agree with the other reviewer that the velcro tabs holding the edge of the hood come out easily, but because the hood is also held on by a zipper, it's not a huge deal to stick the tabs back in. Also because it's a light color, dirt and grime show up very quickly. But on the upside, we've washed it a bunch and it hasn't shown much wear.
Great looks, but not too warm By Marty from Vermont on 02/29/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Cons: Inadequate Protection Best Uses: Not for very cold temps Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: My concern is that this isn't going to be warm enough for cold New England days on the ski slopes. She has a Columbia now, and it's super warm no matter the temps and that's why I chose Columbia again this time. This one doesn't seem nearly as warm; I should not have ordered on-line where I couldn't feel it for myself. I bought it big so it would last 2 years; we'll just have to layer under it the first year and replace it after that. Disappointing for such a good brand name.
Great solid, windproof, warm ski jacket By Skier Dad from Boulder, CO on 01/04/2008 Pros: Durable, Warm, Waterproof Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this for 5 yr old daughter. Fits well, seems very warm even in windy cold. Only con is no drawstring for waist or bottom edge of coat, and no inner cuffs on sleeves to go into gloves (though velcro cuff closures work fine on gloves), two features of most ski jackets. But otherwise seems to be solid construction, and kept her very warm playing outside in gusty windy winter day with 20 temps (close to zero wind chill).
By Northwest Dad from Seattle, WA on 12/28/2007 Pros: Pink, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold and Wet, Seattle Winter Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't been a fan of Columbia gear - but for a child, why not? I've got to re-think my bias; this jacket got a "Wow!" from me, my wife, and my daughter. This jacket has performed in snow and rain; it came clean easily after some climbing fun on a slimy, mossy fence to pet a horse; and most of all our daughter loves it.

For the Sales pice I got it for , it is a real WINNER. We'll be back to this site over and over.
By jaester from mystic, ct on 12/11/2007 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Excellent quality, Good Fit, Versatile, Waterproof Best Uses: All cold weather uses, Freezing Conditions, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As usual, colombia produces the best snow and cold gear for children. The waterproof coating make the coat perfect for wet snow and also dry cold situations. When it comes to quality and price, this coat is not bulky, it is warm , and well made to edure all my daughter can put it through.
By ProfJ from Manhattan, KS on 12/10/2007 Pros: Good Fit, Lightweight Best Uses: Freezing Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The only negative thing I can say about this parka is that the hood doesn't stay in place well. There are velcro tabs to keep the sides of the hood attached to the jacket (in addition to the zipper in the middle of the back of the hood) and they just don't hold. Every time my daughter puts it on or takes it off, the hood "tabs" come out and leave the hood flapping a bit in the breeze. I suppose this is mostly cosmetic, but I would have designed the hood attachments differently.
By the mommy from royalton, mn on 12/07/2007 Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a good jacket in the wind, however is more lightweight than I thought it would be. On really cold days here in MN, I have to put a fleece jacket on my daughter and then have her wear this one over the top. It's really pretty though. It was a great price too!
