By Occasional Backpacker from Indiana on 01/13/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Windproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Skiing/Snowboarding, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: -The outer fabric looks like cotton, but is synthetic.
-It is certainly more durable/thicker than I expected. The down side is that the product is noticably heavier than my last shell (lowe alpine) so look closely at the weight.
-The fabric is so thick I doubt that thorns will tear the fabric like my lowe.
-A great jacket for the price.
great fit, durable, perfect for layering By Barber Hiker from Pikes Peak Region, CO on 12/25/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this jacket for walking the dog when it's really cold out. It's big enough to wear up to three layers underneath while leaving airspace for between each layer for warmth. The pit zips are perfect for the hilly terrain.
Fabric seems like it will last a very long time. Don't yet know how this will perform in the rain, but it is outstanding and blocking the wind. I may never zip off the hood as I'll only wear it in conditions cold enough requiring using the hood.
Great cut with the length in arms and torso perfect and girth around chest and waist the same. Features are excellent with pockets and velcro wrist adjustments. The two interior pockets made for ipos and gps fit mine perfectly.
This jacket is heavy and is not for backpacking or even a long day hike when conditions vary. Great for car camping, using around town, or short day hiking.
Can't believe I got a jacket like this for that price.
By Eternal Student from Texarkana, TX on 11/13/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Waterproof Best Uses: Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great jacket, though, it seems a little on the heavy side--maybe that is the way they all are. Perfect for wet and stormy weather, and, with a liner, for cold weather as well.
incredible waterproof shell By gypsy from phila, pa on 11/12/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: wore this during phillies world series game five part 1 when it poured for two hours straight and was dry as a desert underneath, great garment!

The pockets are well designed. Fit is perfect.
Nice alternative to North Face and technically better made.
By Jason from Dallas, TX on 03/26/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Cons: Shoddy hood zipper design Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this jacket. Just a little bit of layering underneath, and it keeps me plenty warm... Pit zips are nice to have, and it fits like a glove. My only complaint is the zipper that holds the hood on. It seems to come undone slightly every once in a while...nothing major. There are some snaps that would probably hold it in place, but the location is a little weird to me.
By Purry from Dallas, TX on 01/28/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The LARGE size fits me very well, 5'11" 158 lbs.
as if I were POURED INTO IT (!)
excellent attention to detail with YKK zipper,
and Velcro & snap closures. This is
a superlative product and I =definitely= would
make the purchase decision again :-)
By jason from Dallas, TX on 12/23/2007 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Cons: Inadequate Protection, Need to layer Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this jacket mostly for snowboarding. I'm 6' 140, and I got the small. It fits very well, and I also enjoy wearing it as a casual jacket. The sleeve pocket, the split and padded chest pockets (for an ipod), and pit zips come in handy. It doesn't have any insulation, but it still tends to keep the warm in. Works will for layering...
The material is very soft and almost canvas-like, but it seems waterproof as advertised. I haven't seen the goretex version of this jacket first-hand, but I like the feel/look of this material better than what I've seen on other goretex jackets. I'm glad I chose the MemBrain version.
