By Traveling fisherman from Alaska, Idaho, Arkansas on 09/05/2009 Pros: Durable, Heavy duty fabric and zip Cons: Purpose unclear, Serves No Purpose Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Many compartments of unknown use. No individual boxes supplied. Available boxes on market don't fit compartments or pockets on the bag. Bag is heavy and is clumsy to carry with straps. Unclear purpose of design. Retail price is far over blown. STP price on target.
By VF from Woodinville, WA on 08/24/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This bag is very well designed and constructed. When it arrives, there is a foam/magnetic fly tray in the very bottom of the bag, the front removable pouch, and the velcro dividers for the main compartment. Once you pull everything out, you then put in the velcro dividers just as you would in a camera bag, to create sections for storage of reels, fly boxes, etc. Because they're removable, you can pull them out to clean the bag any time you need to, or to rearrange the interior. It's a bit tricky getting them into place, but once they're in, the tray then fits on top of them so that your fly selection is readily at hand. A separate interior cover zips over that and then there is the actual lid that clips down over everything. On the back are velcro cinches for 2 reel cases - perfect! The bottom of the bag is a very heavy duty vinyl that will hold up to rocky streamsides. I got this wonderful bag for an incredible price - thank you STP! I am completely set, this bag and the sling fishing pack I got at the same time will hold everything I need. This is as good as it gets!
Wind River Black Canyon Gear Bag By Fishem'hard from North Ca. on 07/28/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional, Graet Fly Fish Gear Bag Best Uses: Can be used as carry-on, Fresh Water, Salt Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wind River makes great products. This bag has extras that you'll actually use! i.e. fanny pack, hard foam tray w/magnet on 1/2 surface, ripple foam fly holder etc. The tray is not intended to be used as it comes packed; on the bottom inside of the bag. Take it out and use it, when done place it on top of your gear and close the top. Or use it as a tray in your boat to keep flies and leaders from blowing around etc, the magnet gives it weight and keeps it put, great item! Next time you see this bag at this price buy it. I bought two!
By Plecoptera from Seattle on 06/09/2009 Pros: Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Ice Fishing, Salt Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Primarily as a boat bag and transport (travel)bag. Stores reels, leaders, knife, small vise, fly materials and fly boxes. The flyfoam unit in the bottom is a bit baffling -Strange place for placing flies -nominally under - all the gear on the bottom of the bag?
Decent bag and the price is right By Capt Hij from Upstate NY on 03/29/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is a big bag with more than enough room. The dividers are a little akward to use, and it is not easy to work with the top tray. Given the price though I am more than willing to live with it. It is a good pack for hauling *a lot* of your stuff and keping it relatively organized while in a canoe. Not very good, though, if you have to make a portage.
By Fish hunter from Oregon on 02/03/2009 Best Uses: Fresh Water, Ice Fishing, Salt Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Cumbersome to use. Not easy to access. I sent it back.
Better than I expected, well made. By BillyBobber from Charleston SC on 01/20/2009 Best Uses: Fresh Water, Salt Water Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Well made, roomy tackle bag, lots of compartments, good buy.
By E Collins from Buford, GA on 01/19/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Functional, Vast and good looking Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had to buy more stuff to fill it up :)
I can not figure out the tray, it has no purpose where it is, but fits nowhere else.
Good bag but no instructions By supportive wife from central texas on 01/08/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain Cons: Confusing how to use Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Got this for my husband and we almost returned it. There are lots of pieces and velcro and no clear indication of what goes where. I think he is still confused where his lures go. however, it is a good size, he can carry his fishing rods attached to hit, there is room for a 6-pack so overall it is useful
By Goobs from Harrisburg, PA on 12/28/2008 Pros: Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Salt Water Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm trying to get more organized and I saw this bag and figured, why not?
It's a great deal for the money and will go a long way towards organizing my numerous fly reels and spare fly boxes so I'll be much less likely to misplace something.
It seems to be well made and it has plenty of storage space and it didn't cost an arm and a leg!
