Then I treated them again. I really like these boots a lot. I havve a slightly wide foot so these fit me great!
By tlk from Pensacola, FL on 12/05/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: shoes returned. I have always worn size 6 to 7 and these were a 7 and way too small. I don't think even a size 8 would have fit.
My First Pair of Earth Shoes By EastPodunk from Boulder, CO on 11/30/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these boots to provide me the correct posture because I have a very bad back (mostly L4/L5 - lower back). Partially, for the same reason, I haven't worn them too often, yet; I don't want to injure my back further by enforcing different posture while wearing them for a hike or long-term until I had become accustomed to them. I have worn them out only once. They are very light and comfortable, and have a high-quality feel. The negative heel definitely requires a bit of getting used to. I ordered them a half size larger to accomodate an orthotic, which probably wasn't necessary as they are a bit too roomy; granted, my feet are not wide (~B). So, now that the weather is cooling off, I will wear them progressively longer per wearing and with heavier socks for a slightly better fit. My only construction recommendation for Earth would be to add a lace lock at the ankle to ensure best fit.
Impressed with fit and comfort By Copa Kabana from Bolingbrook, IL on 11/24/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: When I originally ordered this boot, I chose a 1/2 size smaller. This is because with previous EarthShoe purchases I usually have a comfortable fit at the smaller size. The toe box of the boot is pointed and with my D-width foot, I needed to go with the extra size as I would with other brands of shoes. I am very pleased in general with EarthShoe products- -excellent quality and fit for me.
By Sarah Smile from Austin, TX on 11/19/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible Cons: Shoe laces are tacky Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are absolutely comfortable and I can tell my legs are getting a good workout when I wear them. The only con I have to report so far is that the shoe strings are cheap looking. This weekend I'm going to put a set of hiking laces in them and I think the appearance and durability will greatly improve. Not sure how these are going to wear yet. They look like they are going to be day-hikers or urban hikers, not sure how they would hold up on the longer treks. But for the price and the comfort, you can't beat them. I'll do day hikes on trails in them for sure.
By Kathy from Baltimore, MD on 11/19/2008 Cons: Not Comfortable, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love earth shoes, but these were a bit too big and bulky and not as soft as I thought. I could have gone with 1/2 size smaller. I was leaving for a trip and hoped to take them with me but they needed a breaking in period. I am returning them but will continue to buy earth shoes.
By Disappointed Earth shoe lover from Traverse City, MI on 11/17/2008 Pros: Flexible, No break-in Cons: Difficult Laces, No Support, Not Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I was very disappointed with these boots. Here's why:
- the lacing system is entirely very loose eyelets; one can not tighten the ankle (for instance) and leave the toe box or calf looser. This results in a tight tie at the top and inadequate tightening elsewhere. I even tried reversing the lace direction, but it didn't help much.
- the rubber at toe is low quality
- the ankle is without any support
I knew this wasn't a "serious" hiking boot, but I did expect it would be at least as supportive as a tennis shoe. it isn't.
By the walker from Kensington Maryland on 11/14/2008 Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I walk 5 miles a day, these shoes are great for walking, but for me the toe are was too small and the ankles had no suport.
Buy only if you have skinny feet By kc from nj on 11/13/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I returned the first pair and got a bigger size but the second pair still feels tight on my fat flintstone feet.
By Sparrowood from Tidioute, PA on 11/11/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Although I haven't worn these boots enough, yet, to have given them a good workout, I do like them so far. They need a wee bit of breaking in, but they give support to my ankles and room for my arthritic feet. I wore them yesterday to walk in the sloppy weather (light snow, melting on the sidewalks) to the grocery store. They repelled the dampness well and were comfortable. While they have fairly decent toe room, the toe area isn't as wide as the other Earth shoes I have, and it would be better if they gave a bit more width in that area.
