I am a big fan of the Earth brand, with a pair of sandals and and a slipon style in my closet. I can walk all day in the slipons but I have not found the same comfort level in these hiking boots. The fit is true to size but I don't believe they are rugged enough for serious hiking, nor for work in the vineyard as I have tried them.

So far, so good. I wear only Earth footwear, and hike and backpack a lot, so am glad to find a pair of Earth hiking boots. I wear them with heavy wool socks; am still breaking them in, but they were comfortable right out of the box.

Comments:
They felt a bit tight around the toe at first, but it felt better after a bit. Had trouble with the top back rubbing my ankle when driving, due to the foot angle, but I pounded it out with a hammer and it's no trouble now. Great for 4-wheeling and hiking around villages in Alaska. I need the negative heel for my back, so I only wear Earth shoes now.

Too soft for serious hiking
By CharVerified Reviewer from Au Sable Forks, NY on 06/02/2008
Best Uses:
Everyday
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Sizing:
Feels half size too small
Width:
Feels too narrow
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This boot seemed too soft around the ankle area to be of any serious use on hikes here in the rocky Adirondacks. I only tried it around the house, as I did not want to soil it, but it was too small all around.

I like these light hikers so much I bought a second pair in case they won't be available later! I did 8 mile moderate/strenuous mountain trails with no pain from my bone spur plagued big toe. I love them!

Hiking boots with that wonderful comfort that Earth shoes are known for. These boots were soft and comfortable from the beginning. I ordered a half size larger as the hiking guide suggested and they were a perfect fit with hiking socks.

I found the traction was adequate for my slippery mountain hikes, like the stability at the ankles, little hard to get laces sinched down to fit widith of my foot . . . that is stiff & resistant to sinch down.
