By Kohala's Mom from Raleigh, NC on 10/15/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Runs small. I normally wear size 4 and ordered both small and medium. Had to return small. Medium fits fine over a sweatshirt. Double zipper is useful but can be hard to get started. Inside of parka feels ok against bare arms, not slimy like some rain jackets. Light blue color looks nice.
By finch mama from Croton on Hudson, NY on 10/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Good for petites, Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Great for hikingdogwalks Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am petite, 5'2" and 110 lbs; this coat fit great for me.Most Small's are really too large for me. I would recommend most women order a size up unless you are petite.
NOT waterproof, poor hood design By Andes Hiker from New York, NY on 10/07/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Stylish, Wind Resistant Cons: Not Waterproof, Poor hood design Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore this supposedly waterproof jacket while hiking in the Andes, and was walking in the rain for about an hour. The hood was much too small and did not have a lot of coverage; the jacket was also not quite waterproof - more like water-resistant. By the end of the hike, my arms and chest were pretty wet and uncomfortable, and the jacket would not dry for hours thereafter, leaving me to wear it semi-wet on the inside the next day...
Looks good, downer in heavy rainstorm By Meerina, Celo Hiker! from North Carolina on 08/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Mostly waterproof, Stylish Cons: Not completely waterproof, Not Warm Enough Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Getting Started Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Overnight hiking Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Looks gorgeous (especially the surprisingly elegant purple-brown), light-weight, packs small. Seemed water resistant at first, but while stuck in a heavy rainstorm (with only a sleeveless shirt underneath) in a lightning drill, I found myself freezing and wondering if I was getting wet inside the jacket. Upon inspection I found that my shoulders, neck, and the line underneath the front zipper were soaked. I at least wish the zipper (which actually does have a flap over it) was more resistant! (Once I put on a fleece underneath, I warmed up.) Also, the white interior feels cold to the touch and is also annoying against bare arm and back skin. Perhaps "parka" means less water proof than "jacket?" I WOULD recommend for everyday use, but not for multiple day hiking in rainy climates.
Great fit, bad color combination By nunya bidness from madison, wi on 08/17/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this for light exercise in the rain as well as for a lightweight travel jacket. What the photo doesn't show is that the lining in the hood is white, which looks okay with the periwinkle color but really cheap and tacky in the brown version. Fabric makes plasticky rustling noise when you move, but from reading other comments that's the case for any truly waterproof garment. Love the slimmer cut.
By Bella from Plymouth, MA on 08/10/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this item for a friend. She was pleased with the color, the size, the versitility of the item.
By Jenita from Shelburne Falls, MA on 07/25/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof Cons: The hood is too small Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Casual light hiking Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I like this jacket in that it's lightweight and quite waterproof. I just don't get why they made the hood so small- my face still gets wet! Just a bit of a visor would have made a big difference.
By Rainy day from Boston, MA on 07/21/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great light weight rain jacket. I order the light blue color and it is much cuter in person. The only con is that the bottom of the jacket is a little snug around the hip area when it is all zipped up but it does have nice long sleeves.
By No Longer Wet in Japan from Yokosuka, Japan on 07/16/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I live in Japan currently and wanted something that would be breathable since it is very humid here when it rains. I ordered this raincoat and wasn't disappointed. It is long enough to cover the hips and does a great job of keeping the rain off. I ordered a size larger than usual after reading the recommendations. The sleeves are a little long for me but the velco enables me to tighten the sleeves. There are numerous pockets which is nice. It seems to do a good job of letting the air flow through. I used it during the rainy season here and it did a good job.
seems thin but very comfortable By running after kids from Stony Brook, NY on 07/10/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought a size smaller than I normally would based on prior reviews and the jacket is still a little large, but that allows for room for a sweatshirt underneath. I have very long arms and the sleeve length is perfect! I love this jacket. At first it seemed thin, but while wearing it is comfortable, breathable, and durable. For a tall woman with long arms this is hard to beat!
