Another beauty from Spyderco By Dark and Nightshade from Portland, OR on 02/20/2009 Pros: Beautiful details, Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade, Smooth Locking Mechanism Cons: Lock works but boring Best Uses: Collector, Dress knife - alt to Kiwi Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great Spyderco for the collector, not so much for everyday use; it's too fancy to carry everyday, save it for special occasions. Like all Spydercos, the large hole in the blade allows you to open with a flick of the wrist. The lock is safe and solid; but common and rather boring (my first Spyderco was a Meerkat with the phantom lock so I expect a lot from this company).
By GRUB from Boca Raton, Florida on 01/31/2009 Pros: Beautiful olive wood, Comfortable Grip, Sharp Blade, Solid feeling Cons: Difficult To Close, Frame lock too strong, Need both hands to close Best Uses: Home, Showing off Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Hard to return because of it's attractiveness, but I slightly separated my thumb from it's nail closing it with one hand. I'm pretty strong so I feel this will be a serious problem for other people who are used to a smooth one hand closing.
By JJ5K from Midwest on 01/16/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Excellent Ergonomics, High Flat Grind, Sharp Blade, Smooth Locking Mechanism, Very good steel Best Uses: Camping, Home, Hunting, Survival Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very nice knife. It's larger than I originally thought (which is good). :) It would make a very nice EDC knife for blue jean days. A little too big for the office. The blade shape & ergonomics are just right for using as a chef's knife in the field. N690Cr steel is tough enough for any chore you'd want to put a 4" knife through. Overall, very nice.
By Farmer from Saint Paul, MN on 06/24/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Quality a bit less than expected from Spyderco; wood lighter than pictured; difficult to close.

The unique blade shape offers an amazing amount of control and precision, without sacrificing strength, or sharpness.

The best workmanship I ever saw in production knife in this price range (I own over 40 knives). I bought few Volpes and gifted couple to friends. One of them carries it everyday, second friend use it on dress-up occations
By mikeyboccato from southern california on 05/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Sharp Blade, Stylish Best Uses: Campgrounds, Collectable, Day Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought it as a collectible, although I'll carry it occasionally. Attractive Olive inlay, typical Spyderco sharp blade, but the liner lock is very difficult to release. Condidering the cost, I'm tempted to return it just for the liner lock.
By slappy from san francisco, ca on 04/28/2008 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Sharp Blade Cons: Screws are falling out Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Day Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I can't believe the screws are falling out of this knife that I've had for less than a month and hardly used. It's been in my pocket only now and then and thats been enough for the screws holding the handle together to come out. Two of them. I can't even screw them back in because the head of the screw requires a star-shaped tool I don't have. Very disappointing for a >$80 knife.
By Rcbalt2 from Kentucky on 04/14/2008 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Great Fit and Finish, Sharp Blade Best Uses: Day Trips, Every Day Carry Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great for an everyday carry knife. Looks great and has good looking overlays.
