By JC from Philadelphia on 05/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Opens Smoothly, Sharp Blade Best Uses: Camping, Self protection, Survival Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The knife is very well made - the fit and finish are great for the most part, although there is a slight burr in the thumb hole. The blade is serrated and very sharp, and after some use the blade began to open easier and now is very simple to operate with one hand. It's very well balanced and the clip can be changed for tip up or tip down carry. The blade is under 3 inches long, but the reach actually seems longer because of the design of the handle. The protruding pummel end is nice too, all in all a great knife and an incredible value.
By CW from Wyo on 04/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade Cons: Handle scratches easily Best Uses: Camping, Defense, Home, Hunting, Utility Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm sold on this design. I really like the handle with the extended pommel (the brushed finish does tend to scratch easy as I wrote above). I like the blade profile with the swedge grind/false edge. I bought two, I'm going to buy another at this price. Razor-sharp is no exaggeration for this blade.
Excellent workmanship and very few flaws By Yankeepride from Rhode Island on 03/16/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade Best Uses: Home, Hunting, Survival Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A very nice knife the hole is positioned a little low on the handle. Opening and closing is stiff. Overall a excellent solid dependable knife. Workmanship and material is top notch.
By MWexler from Westfield, NJ on 03/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Opens Smoothly, Sharp Blade Cons: Small Blade vs Handle Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The handle is amazingly comfortable. The quality is the usual Spyderco fit and finish. The blade clearly says Seki City, Japan on one side, and Spyderco VG-10 on the other. I got the Serrated edge, and it's using Spyderco's own serration, which are more "pointy" and staggered than the generic. My complaints are minor: the blade is somewhat small compared to the length of the handle... and it's not that the blade is all that small, but that the handle is longer than one might expect. The shape is very ergonomic, with cutouts that seem to predict where your fingers want to go. I was surprised that the Spyderco hole in the blade was not fully exposed when closed (a small amount is covered by the handle, but one will never notice in practice; it doesn't affect usage at all). B/c the handle is so long, it takes some maneuvering to figure out the right place in your pocket to carry. But it's light, it's well constructed, and comfortable. The cool look, if unique and a touch odd, is a pleasant bonus.
