By GADAWG from Georgia on 01/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Opens Smoothly, Sharp Blade Cons: Back edge of blade sharp Best Uses: All around general Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good, sharp knife. The back edge of the blade also is sharp (not to the point of cutting ability), but does cause some discomfort when carrying while using the clip. Best to just keep in your pocket.
By JED from North Georgia on 12/30/2008 Pros: Good looking, Sharp Blade, Top quality steel blade Best Uses: Camping, Home, Survival Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have owned several Spyderco knives and have never been disappointed. This is a great deal on a very sharp and good looking knife. The blade on this knife is really high quality steel. I got one for me and two to give as gifts. Everyone is fully satisfied!
By grvj from Temple City on 11/26/2008 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Opens Smoothly, Sharp Blade Best Uses: Camping, Hunting Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Easy to open and grasp with Spyderco blade hole. Can be used as a skinner - the blade is not too long and right shape for game like hogs.
Handle is metal so can get slick with fluids or blood. Easy to clean, have not needed to sharpen yet but if like other Spyderco blades should be easy with minimal effort.
By knifeman from el cerrito, ca on 11/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Sharp Blade Cons: Difficult To Close, Difficult to open Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm a big fan of Spyderco (you can see my review of the Kiwi Lockback) and I have their Rescue Knife which is great. Unfortuately, the Scorpius they sent me had a very stiff mechnism and didn't open easily with one hand (one of the main features of Spyderco) and closing was just as stiff. Tried WD40, but no change. It just was not a well machined piece. Don't know if it was just the one I got, or this model in general, but I had to send it back for a refund. To bad, because once it was open, it was a great, solid knife, with the usual good balance and no play in the blade that you expect from Spyderco. But without being able to open it quickly, it just became average. I hope if you order one, you get the usual good quality; I just can't keep taking a chance and paying the return shipping.
By Yom from Jamestown, N.C. on 08/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Sharp Blade Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds, Day Trips, River Trips, Road Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this Spyderco. I haven't carried a pocket knife in years though I've had plenty of occasion to need one. I took Spydeco68's advice and purchased this model and couldn't be happier. The clip helps it fit well and securely in my pocket so I don't feel like a have a heavy piece of metal bouncing around or about to fall out. Of course, that also makes it very easy to get to when needed - no digging around in your pocket for it. The blade is sharp and the overall finish is very nice. Easy to open with one hand thanks to the hole in the blade and you might be surprised how often you'll end up using that feature once you have it.
This is a nice knife at a very nice price. Lots of compliments on it.
