Purchased this tent for Camping by Kayak on Cranberry Lake, NY 2007. Well made, lightweight and compact. Easy to set up. Plenty of room for my husband and myself as well as some of our dry gear. Held up well to strong winds and rain. Really liked this tent so much that we bought this second one for our Eagle Scout son who camps a lot.

What a great tent! Amazingly easy to set up, even in the rain. Lightweight for the size, plenty of room for two plus a dog and a cat. Survived high winds and downpours without a leak, no condensation problems. Couldn't be happier.

Comments:
I have an earlier incarnation of this tent I got for backpacking and used it solo for many years, although it was rated for two people. My son liked it so much, he started to use it, so when I saw this on sale, I saw my chance to get my old tent back. This one is a little larger than mine - fine for my 6' tall son (and his girlfriend). I sealed the fly seams, and we put it up in the yard for a test in a storm that turned out to be REALLY bad. Tent was fine, but there was some water in the corners. I had not sealed the webbing which attaches to the stakes.
Overall design is great, but the flap over the fly zipper did catch. Get extra stakes to fully stake out in all the available places (I think 4 more). Seal the seams well. Get ground cloth material and cut to size, including a piece for the vestibule (always 2-6" smaller than the tent perimeter). The vestibule is just the right size to store things like boots, backpack, etc. if it rains. This tent has more netting than mine, so on a cold morning, it could be chilly. Use a good sleeping bag (I used my rain pancho as an extra blanket). On a warm night, it should be perfect with plenty of ventilation.
You'll love this tent, and now I have mine back to love too.

comfortable and easy setup
By scoutersVerified Reviewer from central PA on 5/29/2008
Pros:
Comfortable, Easy to set up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof
Cons:
Door not at head or feet
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Great for father & son, Ok for two adults plus some equipment. My 11 year old can setup with little to no help. He carries on his backpack for Scout hikes. Overall the tent is excellent. One problem is the single door opening is located on the long length rather on shorter length. Because adults will sleep in the long length direction, the person in the back will have to crawl over the person beside the door to exit. It is a little inconvenient but still workable.

So far, so good
By DanielVerified Purchaser from Berkeley, CA on 5/9/2008
Pros:
Easy to set up, Lightweight, Sturdy
Cons:
Poor Fly Design
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping

What Is Your Gear Style:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I have only used this tent on one trip but so far I am very happy with it. It is easy to set up and is very sturdy if you stake out the rainfly (which many people don't). My only concern is that the rainfly leaves the corners of the tent a bit exposed, which could lead to some water intrusion in a heavy rain. Otherwise a great tent: roomy for two people car camping, very light for three people backpacking.

Light and roomy
By SamboVerified Purchaser from South Australia on 4/1/2008
Pros:
Easy to set up, Fly Works Well, Good ventilation, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof
Cons:
Collects Condensation
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Hiking, Motorcycle Touring
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This is a great little tent. Light enough for hiking and compact enough for motorcycle touring, it has plenty of room to move about when you get there. It's well-designed and well-made.
We haven't used it in all extremes yet but it's been fine in the combination of warm days, light rain and medium winds we've experienced so far. A little condensation overnight in cool conditions seems to be inevitable and caused no problem drips. Good insect screens and ventilation for Aussie warm days.

Good tent, a little cold

Comments:
I bought this tent to use while motorcycle camping in Europe (two months). It would have worked fine backbacking as well, it is light enough. I bought the three person version. Unfortunately, the footprint that I bought was for the two person version. The tent does very well in the rain. Its main problem is that it gets cold as the under-tent has a lot of netting and the outer shell does not seal it very well -- Well made, a good value for the money (on sale).

Comments:
I just returned from a 3-night camping and fishing trip on the Pit River. It was drizzling when we arrived, and rained a bit overnight, and the tent was quite dry inside. The next day it began to rain and blow - hard. About 1.5 inches of rain fell, and this tent remained completely dry inside, despite the weather, and the water running under the floor of the tent.
Bottom line - best tent I have ever owned, and I will used it with complete confidence in the future!
