By Rocky Mountain lady from Boulder, CO on 06/24/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After reading other reviews, I sealed the seams and sprayed waterproofing on the fly. However, we were lucky and escaped the rain the first use, so no verdict on its water repellant/resistant/proofing qualities. Two people set up the tent and fly easily, but I suspect it would be a real challenge for one person. For a small tent at a great price, a very economical buy.
By Boy Scout from South Carolina on 05/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up Cons: Leaks in large storms Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We sprayed the tent with silicone sealant to help with the leaking. This seemed to work pretty well.
By Dog Star from Cincinnati, OH on 03/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This tent is fine for casual use, as long as it does not rain! I've used it on several scout weekends and it was fine in good weather. It leaked during an all-night rain, which I can understand, but it also leaked badly during a night of a few showers. I'm tired of waking up in puddles! You get what you pay for; I'm buying a better tent.
This tent is the best for the price! By Jan from Michigan on 02/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well, I love it, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just purchased my second one!
By MamaHikes from Massachusetts on 08/16/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This tent leaked a bit from all side bottom seams, and tremendously from the peak. It was NOT fun to get caught in a summer thunderstorm with a 5 year old getting drenched.
Decent casual camper tent By me from Ansonia, CT on 08/08/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice little tent for two, very easy to put up, very well ventilated, not super heavy duty construction, but not bad for the price. Not too big or bulky - light enough that it could be carried on a small hike. Probably not the tent for a serious hiker/camper but more than sufficient for the occasional weekend. We got a little leakage through the lower section of the front zipper during rain, but blocked it with a towel and did OK - would need an additional fly for heavy rain.
By Kayak Roger from SW Michigan on 08/04/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Good ventilation, Roomy Cons: Collects Condensation, Flimsy Construction, Poor Fly Design, Seams leak Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping, Places with no rain Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Plan on spending about $30+ more on seam sealer and waterproofing spray if you want to stay dry. Every stitched seam, I literally mean EVERY ONE, leaks unless you seal them. The rain fly seams are the worst - water doesn't drip, it POURS through. Floor is very thin and seams are right on the ground. Even after you seal it, don't expect it to last too long. This would be a great tent for camping in the back yard - so you can run into the house when it rains.
By Moto Camper from Montana on 07/21/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This tent got me wet in the storm and flattens in a medium wind. It is not a value if it does not work!
