Entirely satisfied with this tent By SurlyRider from Los Altos, CA on 07/08/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Easy to set up, Fly Works Well, Simple in design, Spacious, Sturdy Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A very no-nonsense tent to house a 4-person family comfortably. Wonderfully spacious: we slept two adults, one 4-year-old, and a baby in a crib, along with luggage and a guitar, quite comfortably. Tall enough for a 6' person to stand up in. Durable floor material (tarp-like) withstands tromping.
I'm not sure how waterproof the tent is, so beware in heavy rains.
By teledude from forest grove, or on 06/19/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy to set up, Fly Works Well Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: used 4 nights, w/o rain. held up nice in stiff breeze. easy to set-up. fly pole was a little funky until you used the tie down to the tent. seems like a inexpensive 9x9 fot tent. door and winsow zip down for mesh openings for crossbreeze. got cold at night and zipping window and door closed made a big difference in temp; much warmer.
Alps Mountaineering 9x9 tent By Dave B. from Wayne, NJ on 06/18/2008 Pros: Easy to set up, Good ventilation, Sturdy, Very roomy Cons: Heavy, No available Floor saver, Poor Fly Design Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Intended use for AM 9x9 is camping. Roomy, sturdy, well ventilated. However, since I just received, have not yet used. I expect to be more comforatble compared to 3 person backpacking tent used before. Would have like option to have complete fly cover and have yet to discover where I can obtain fitted floor saver.
Tarp-like bottom makes for unhappy tent By Chicago Photog from Chi town on 06/13/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Most good tents are supposed to just be stuffed back in the sack to avoid repeat folds which compromise fabric integrity-and make it easy to pack up. That don't work with this tent. The floor is made of a green version of the old blue tarp material, which makes it heavy and impossible to get back in the sack under realistic conditions. With the sale discount it's worth keeping as a guest tent, but I'll be buying a new one.
I would buy this product again By Autumn the camper from Circleville, Ohio on 06/10/2008 Pros: Easy to set up, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof Best Uses: Backpacking, Beach, Hiking, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The tent that I bought for my daughter is great. She was able to set it up by herself. She loves it.
By ski bum from VT on 06/07/2008 Cons: No guyline attachment Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This tent is roomy enough for my family of five to sleep comfortably- 3 boys b/w 9 and 13. It sets up easily and is ventilated decently, but there are no external guyline attachments. We caught a windy day- not hurricane force, just windy- at Zion national park and returned to find the tent still staked down but the two tent poles across the cabin snapped and torn through the fly. Had we been able to further stake the sides, I don't think this would have been a problem. I wouldn't want to be in ANY inclement weather in this tent, but for an inexpensive-car camping tent for a minimalist like myself or a smaller family- it would do.
By sidsing from new york on 05/29/2008 Pros: Easy to set up, Lightweight, Sturdy Best Uses: Backpacking, Beach, Car Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It would be a little easier if there we sleeves that the poles go into instead of so many hooks, other than that we love it!
Tents for a Boy Scout Troop By A Scout Dad from Yakima, WA on 05/26/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought 4 of these for my son's Boy Scout Troop to use at summer camp. The boys have set them up at a weekly meeting and they are roomy and seem to be of good quality. Have not used them in the field. Instructions are sewn into stuff sack, a good thing for boys who are prone to misplacing such things.
Great for small family fun By momcandoit from West Hartford, CT on 05/20/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy to set up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I pitched this tent in our backyard, for a trial run.
It was remarkably simple to set up, yet spacious and sturdy.
I would recommend this tent for camping, though it's a bit on the heavy side for backpacking or mountaineering. Great first tent for this family!
