Good campground tent. Nice and roomy.
By Fish finderVerified Purchaser from Vashon, WA on 07/31/2008
Pros:
Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well
Best Uses:
Car Camping
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Goes up fairly quickly - 5 minutes or so. Room for a comfortable cot, to spread out gear, and to stow stuff out of sight during the day. I use it as a base camp, then explore fishing spots by car and hiking, and return to a comfortable camp for the evening.

Use the product when I have to car camp - usually with many others doing the same or similar. This seems to be all that I need and certainly a good value for the use I intend.

Entirely satisfied with this tent
By SurlyRiderVerified Purchaser from Los Altos, CA on 07/08/2008

Cons:
Heavy

Car Camping
Describe Yourself:

What Is Your Gear Style:

A very no-nonsense tent to house a 4-person family comfortably. Wonderfully spacious: we slept two adults, one 4-year-old, and a baby in a crib, along with luggage and a guitar, quite comfortably. Tall enough for a 6' person to stand up in. Durable floor material (tarp-like) withstands tromping. I'm not sure how waterproof the tent is, so beware in heavy rains.

Comments:
used 4 nights, w/o rain. held up nice in stiff breeze. easy to set-up. fly pole was a little funky until you used the tie down to the tent. seems like a inexpensive 9x9 fot tent. door and winsow zip down for mesh openings for crossbreeze. got cold at night and zipping window and door closed made a big difference in temp; much warmer.

Alps Mountaineering 9x9 tent
By Dave B.Verified Purchaser from Wayne, NJ on 06/18/2008

Cons:
Heavy, No available Floor saver, Poor Fly Design
Best Uses:
Car Camping
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist

Comments:
Intended use for AM 9x9 is camping. Roomy, sturdy, well ventilated. However, since I just received, have not yet used. I expect to be more comforatble compared to 3 person backpacking tent used before. Would have like option to have complete fly cover and have yet to discover where I can obtain fitted floor saver.

Tarp-like bottom makes for unhappy tent
By Chicago PhotogVerified Purchaser from Chi town on 06/13/2008
Pros:
Easy to set up
Cons:
Heavy, Poor floor
Best Uses:
Beach
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Most good tents are supposed to just be stuffed back in the sack to avoid repeat folds which compromise fabric integrity-and make it easy to pack up. That don't work with this tent. The floor is made of a green version of the old blue tarp material, which makes it heavy and impossible to get back in the sack under realistic conditions. With the sale discount it's worth keeping as a guest tent, but I'll be buying a new one.

Fair weather tent
By ski bumVerified Purchaser from VT on 06/07/2008
Pros:
Easy to set up
Cons:
No guyline attachment
Best Uses:
Car Camping
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This tent is roomy enough for my family of five to sleep comfortably- 3 boys b/w 9 and 13. It sets up easily and is ventilated decently, but there are no external guyline attachments. We caught a windy day- not hurricane force, just windy- at Zion national park and returned to find the tent still staked down but the two tent poles across the cabin snapped and torn through the fly. Had we been able to further stake the sides, I don't think this would have been a problem. I wouldn't want to be in ANY inclement weather in this tent, but for an inexpensive-car camping tent for a minimalist like myself or a smaller family- it would do.
