Sorry we didn't listen... By on the go from Granville, OH on 06/19/2009 Cons: BAD at beach, Disappointing, Poor in any wind at beach, Sandpockets collapse tent Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Rush ordered so we could try set up before Sanibel Island trip. Set up was interesting but not hard. As soon as we set it up on beach and filled sand pockets for stability in mild wind, whole tent sank. We had it back down before we even got to use it. Sorry we did not heed the warnings. Might be ok for other purposes but we had wanted the shade for the beach.
This is a clear description By portable artist from Corbett, OR on 06/18/2009 Pros: Easy To Set Up, Sturdy Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I intend to use the shelter as a sun and (light) rain protection when I do outdoor landscape painting.
By Cookie from Asheville, NC on 06/15/2009 Pros: Easy To Set Up, Lightweight Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this for a group camp-out as an alternative to my Kelty sunshade. Couldn't pass up the price! Although I was not expecting it to be as high quality as my Kelty, I was still a little disappointed. It is a little taller than the Kelty, but does not give nearly as much coverage from the elements. The photos are very deceiving, making it appear that a family of 4-6 could stay covered sitting at a regular size picnic table under the shade...yeah right! Also, this is in no way gonna keep anyone dry in a heavy or even steady rain, the material is very sheer and not in anyway waterproof. For[$] it is a light, compact shelter from the sun for 2-3 people on chairs or on the ground, but not too durable, so I guess you get what you pay for...
Easy to set-up, but check clips. By BJ the Gardener from Williamsburg, VA on 06/14/2009 Pros: Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Shiny Cons: Plastic parts flimsy Best Uses: Beach, Outdoor concert Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This shelter was easy to set up. The quick release chips on the tension straps are very flimsy though, and one of them was broken. [...] We decided to go to a camping store and find another quick release clip ($2.49) ourselves.[...]All in all, it worked out, and the shelter was great for setting up at a concert for shade out of the Virginia sun in June.

Good idea, poor execution By Nu-Nu from Virginia Beach, VA on 06/11/2009 Cons: Difficult To Setup, Flimsy Construction Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This item was a great idea at first, but not suitabe for one person set-up. Took it to the beach with friends in light winds for a picnic and surf fishing. It took 3 of us to handle setting it up. Two of the poles snapped due to the tight fit. We didn't leave it up. We just balled it up and tossed it aside and dealt with the sun. Good concept, but not sturdy enough.
By careful shopper from virginia on 06/09/2009 Pros: Easy To Set Up, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We have been searching for a shade tent that would be easy enough for one person to set up alone, and not too heavy, but still big enough to fit chairs under it, etc. This one fits the bill. And the price was right!
By Geo from Livingston, MT on 06/06/2009 Cons: Difficult To Setup, Flimsy Construction Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Awning was difficult to set up outdoors with any kind of wind. Support pole broke and awning sleeve ripped on first use. Liked the size/weight to carry in my boat but will have to return due to defects.
It does what it is supposed to. By Ron from Baltimore, MD USA on 06/04/2009 Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: If you plan on using this type of item several times a season, it is worth the money. Per previous reviews, the shock cords were not not as tight as my tent's poles. These can be replaced if you want to; it is probably easier to have 2 people set it up rather than just one. It will provide the shade you need and it has more than enough height.
