By Shoos from Bloomfield, NJ on 05/31/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this to use as a shelter for car-camping. It took two of us to set up. The poles were difficult to insert because the connection sections kept catching in the sleeves. But that wasn't the worst part. Putting tension on the poles to bend them was very difficult. While attempting to do this, during one attempt the pole sprung at my friend's neck bruising it badly. It was a serious hit, which had it been to a more delicate part of the neck or head, would have resulted in serious injury. I am quite disappointed in this product.
By n/a from Mesa, Az on 05/31/2009 Pros: Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Haven't taken it camping yet; but set it up in tht backyard. Set up was fairly easy for the first time and will get easier with practice. Offers lots of shade which is paramount for Arizona camping.
By Tim Riggins from Hartford, CT on 05/31/2009 Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great product! Offers excellent protection from the sun. Have only used it once at a bbq, but once staked down this thing was NOT moving! I'm sure if the corners are filled with sand and it is staked properly it will be great at the beach (using it there next weekend). Great investment. Helps to have a second person to help set up. I bought snow stakes for when we use it at the beach as it comes with generic cheesy plastic yellow stakes. GO FOR IT!
By evito from Boston, MA on 05/27/2009 Cons: Difficult To Setup, Poor construction Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Shelter was very poor quality. All of the shock-corded poles have lost their "spring" making them virtually useless. When you manage to get these assembled, the end loop that contains the poles will eaisly rip. A complete waste of $$$. Maybe the shelter was kept in storage for too many years?

The price was just right for what I wanted.
Very easy to carry but still durable... By Scorps7 from Encinitas, CA on 05/16/2009 Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It would be best to have two people set up the first time and leave up for a few days if possible, needs to stretch out the material as it is precision fit and the shock cords are extremely rigid in order to keep the shape and form. Outside tie-downs and inside sand pockets should withstand fairly strong weather.
By doglady from Cuyahoga Falls OH on 05/10/2009 Cons: Difficult To Setup, Flimsy Construction Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: We set this shelter up just long enough to check it out. The fabric had several small holes, the largest about 1/4". We also noticed that where the fabric was stretched by the poles, the stitching was strained, and looked likely to pull out very quickly. Finally, one of the sleeves for the poles was not properly stitched, and was fraying. We took it down immediately and sent it back. Great design, lousy execution.
Hmmmm....a bit disappointed. By Belladonna30c from San Diego, CA on 05/09/2009 Cons: Difficult To Setup, Fabric Not Sturdy Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The fabric that makes up the shade cover really needs to be sturdier. You must have two people to set this up effectively. I set this up by myself only with great struggle and frustration. Also, while setting it up the fabric rubbed against the ground wearing holes into it where the poles pass through, and I accidentally leaned it against a bush and it poked holes too. I really like the concept of the product and will keep it as it is still functional and not worth the effort to return the item.
By Desert Dave from Santa Barbara, CA on 05/04/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought the shelter for a car camping trip to Joshua Tree in early MAY. JT is notoriously windy, so I was skeptical. But it never got to JT. I set it up in the yard first. Not bad to set up alone. But the problems were: poles were fiberglass that would bend too much and break in wind; poles gave me microscopic fiberglass splinters (put gloves on after a while); pole end caps were not glued on and came off in pole sleeves when poles were removed; end finial came off of one pole; partly-open ring for pole end pin got jammed on finial and it took needle-nose pliers to get it off; and, worst of all, outside layer of fabric on two pole pockets split and frayed. This all happened in a 20-minute practice set-up. Good concept: bad execution
By Jamie from Charlottesville, va on 04/06/2009 Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: While it was very sturdy, it is definitely as big as they say! I'm returning it only because I really don't need/want something that big or a contraption that you need help setting up. I can tell it is excellent quality, but there is no way that I could bring it to the beach or sports fields and set it up on my own...
