By Ann from Asheville from Asheville, NC on 11/02/2009 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel, Work Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't had these long, so I don't know how they'll last, but it's my third pair of El Naturalistas and they are wonderful shoes: cute, comfortable and just fun to wear. I bought the dark brown, although I had wanted black, and I love the dark brown. The color is muted and has elements of brown, black and green and will go with lots of things. I think you can wear these for any casual use....but not in very cold weather!

By Twinkle Toes from Brattleboro, Vermont on 04/04/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Versatile, Very cute Best Uses: Casual Wear, Reenactment or costume, Travel, Work Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is an adorable shoe, and it felt great on my feet right out of the box. The buttery leather, flexibility and styling remind me of a jazz dance shoe; I can see myself wearing it with flowing skirts as well as leggings or capris. The exposed leather between the rubber pads on the sole might wear out quicker, but its pretty thick leather, so I don't see this as a huge issue. This would also be a great shoe for wearing with renaissance or other reenactment costumes because of the open lace up styling and hand made look. I can't wait for our Vermont winter to go away so I can wear them for real!

Have not worn them outside yet. Lots of fun sock opportunities!

Have changed the laces though, as I found the others a bit stiff.

Comfortable from day one, really well constructed, assume they'll last a long time. Lots of fun--can wear brown socks to make them look more traditional or showcase fun socks beautifully (no tongue on shoe). Sole is art, too, how neat is that! Plus the rubber is super thick and bouncy, so easy to wear all day without fatigue.
El Naturalista Sumi-E Shoes are cool By Sue the Shoehorse from Lewisberry, PA 17339 on 01/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Distinctive, Soft and supple, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel, Work Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am both comfort and style driven, so am happy they are cuter than the picture, as an earlier rater wrote. Others said that the actual size was smaller than was described. The shoes may be a tad small for my 9.5 foot but because of how soft they are, I am keeping them. I suspect the one shoe that may be tight will stretch. Also, they seem to work both with and without orthodics, a big plus for me. They are Spring-Summer-Fall shoes, so I have not gotten to wear them out yet in the PA winter.
no arch and unsure of wear pattern By Diann from Arlington, VA on 12/29/2008 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I returned these shoes because they have little arch support. Otherwise, they fit well and looked nice. However, I was also concerned about the soles and their wear pattern. If you look at the picture closely, you'll see that the sole consists of three lumps. That's right -- the sole is in three pieces, not one continuous piece. In between, the leather is fully exposed. I'd be anxious about doing much walking on gravel paths with these.

Comfortable out of the box. I have the brown color, which is rich chocolate color! I like it a lot!
