So I returned it and got an L, which, with the thickest padding, fits very well. I much prefer this to the typical racing bike helmet. Feels much more substantial. They could make them less "rad" -- I got the charcoal grey model and put a "Bell" sticker over the "skull" on the back.

These helmets are incredibly durable as well as having great size adjustment possibilities. The inner padding consists of two pieces, one includes the front and sides and the other covers the back. By including a thin medium and thick set of each, it not only allow one to fit the helmet perfectly to their head by mixing and matching(I don't even need the chin strap, although yes I do use it, because the fit is so secure), it allows for seasonal variation. I ride in 100 degree heat in the summer and freezing conditions in the winter, so the ability to accommodate a beanie (or not) under the protective shell, without the helmet riding higher on my head, and thus possibly providing less protection, is outstanding. I've used mine on over 400 rides over the past 2 years...AND LOVE IT!!!

When I wear it, a good part of my forehead is exposed, even though I bought to measurable size. I'm accustomed to a more complete fit.
Otherwise it's rad.
