Don't be fooled by these good looks. By NYC Hiking Shoe from NYC on 09/23/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Poor Cushioning Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete, Gym Rat Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I was terribly disappointed with these shoes. I bought them because I am about to go on a trip to Africa and I needed a comfortable hiking/walking shoe. These were a great looking style, a reputable brand, and great deal. But I suppose you get what you pay for. They felt cheap from the moment I put them on. I am a big fan of Nike shoes and those are always so comfortable. My feel feel like they are stepping into a cloud when I put on Nikes. This was not the case. They felt like cardboard. More the front of the foot, that the back. The heel seemed fine. Did I mention they looked good? I wanted them to work out so bad cuz I thought they were such good looking shoes. So I wore them around for a few weeks, thinking they needed breaking in, but all i discovered was that they offered no real support. My foot felt flat in them and tired. The front of my big toe kept hitting the top of the shoe which didn't hurt, but it felt like cardboard, so it was just uncomfortable. The shoes were the right size. I had ordered the 1/2 size bigger that other customers recommended I do on this site. Just disappointed that's all. Ended up returning them and splurging for some Nikes instead.

Very breathable and perfect for warm weather/ climates. Great arch support and overall comfort. Sizing seems true. I would have purchased two pairs but they ran out of my size. Probably not great for extended hikes over rocky terrain or in muddy conditions.
Super support and breathability By spiritbear from Great Bend, Pa. on 05/07/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Incorrect siz'g info Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted to use these for hiking with my dogs on trails, town streets, muddy areas around wetlands, local stream-beds.
Great looking shoes!
Catalog info said to order 1/2 size larger. At Lands' End and all local stores, I wear a size 8, so I ordered 8.5. This size (in this shoe) is STILL too small! I should have ordered a 9. Giving up. I will stick with the trail shoes that I already have from you (2 pr.). They are size 8 and fit perfectly. I'll return these. Sorry.
Great Shoes for Rough Terrain By Alaskan Krystal from Alaska on 04/15/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Sole, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am very happy with these shoes- they have a supportively stiff sole (in a good way), ample room in the toe box, breathable siding, rugged and gripping soles, and superior coloration. I especially appreciate the coloration. Nothing irritates me more than shoes that look shabby after one muddy trail- but these shoes are made to thrive in that kind of condition. So if you are interested in running trails these are the shoes for you. I have a medium/wide foot and these fit me well- if you have a narrow foot they may not be the shoes for you.
By pixypi from AZ on 03/26/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Really light and comfortable shoes. Break in not required. It runs narrow and small which is perfect for my feet. Good traction and support. I would buy these shoes again!

By LK from MI on 03/24/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Very odd - I have never had this problem, but, the right shoe was smaller than the left, slightly. Some would say "well, your right foot is bigger". Perhaps, but, made it so I could not buy this pair.
By Cat from Seattle, WA on 03/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Funny, the fit was absolutely fine for me. Not too big, not too small. I've worn Columbia shoes for years and order the same size I get at a store. They always fit as expected. More than that, they last for years and many rocky, muddy trail miles. Good shoes. BTW: I ordered these as a exchange for different pair of Columbia's that didn't have the stability I wanted. The return/exchange was a breeze.
