Great boots (once they're broken in) By Crow from PA on 11/07/2009 Pros: Comfortable aftr break in, Durable, Great Traction, Lightweight, Multi-Use, Secure Fit Cons: Not Flexible, Not fully waterproof, Not good for every day Best Uses: Alpine mountaineering, Hiking Describe Yourself: Environmentalist, Hiker, Moutain climber Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had these boots for several years of abuse now and they are just starting to look less than new. They are very durable but they took many months to break in I was push mowing a .75 acre lot with them for a while before I could comfortably take these on the trail. I've taken them alpine mountaineering and it's like these boots were made for all purpose crampons - like a glove.
The sole is very rigid which is great for rocky terrain but not so good around town... this factor contributes to their comfort off road the long break in period. Also they seemed narrow at first but after break in they just seem very stable.
My main gripe is that the waterproofing could have been better. They require treatment every so often to remain waterproof and the leather seems to hold more water than I would like. It would be more useful in deeper water if the very top of the boot were shaped like this -- instead of this / because if you slip in a creek you can easily get a boot full. Also the toe traction could be better but you just get used to it.
Nice boots, but seemed a little narrow. By Potbelly from Montana on 10/08/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Lightweight Best Uses: Everyday/Practical Use, Hiking Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Maybe a little narrow.
By hikerchick from Sequim, WA on 08/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy On/Off, Great Traction, Lightweight, Multi-Use, Secure Fit Best Uses: Climbing, Everyday/Practical Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are great for summer hiking. They're lighter and lower than most boots but have great traction and support. I just may wear them year around. They were a little tight across the toe box at first, but I wore them on a 10 mile mountain hike the first time out without serious problems.

They feel different but I'm keeping them By Dog Trainer Lady from Ohio on 05/24/2009 Pros: Durable, Good support, Great Traction, Multi-Use, Protective heel sole, Secure Fit Best Uses: Everyday/Practical Use, Help me long on concrete Describe Yourself: Train dogs hike compete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a handsome boot which I really wanted to keep, but it felt questionable. It was stiff, & too roomy from top of arch to bottom for my flat feet, so I added another foam liner, which helped the fit. For all those question marks, they seemed kind to the bottom of my feet, which are not easily pleased, so I kept them. I've noticed I can go further & stand longer with them so they are an asset. Wore them at the dog trial yesterday.

Good product for non-wide foot By Chris from Colorado on 03/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Easy On/Off, Great Traction, Lightweight, Multi-Use, Secure Fit, Tends to run "narrow" Best Uses: Climbing, Everyday/Practical Use Describe Yourself: Colorado hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Yesterday, two pair arrived: at first, I was sad thinking I would need to return the beautiful Danner hikers, as it is a wee bit narrow: but, with thinner socks, I do believe they will break in for a custom fit.
If, you can get a pair to fit, then, by all means, buy them
