By dognamedspot from Juneau, AK on 09/15/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These things went above and beyond what I expected out of them. I purchased them when moving to Juneau, AK and they have not disappointed. I initiated them in on a 12 mile overnight hike with plenty of bush-wacking. They needed no breaking in. There was rain and mud and puddles but nothing got through. This is my first pair of gore-tex boot and I doubt I'll go back.
By mikey from moab ut on 04/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this boot for day hikes... they have good support and are comfortable
too narrow even for a "C" width By witearrow from Big Timber MT. on 01/19/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Adds new meaning to stiff, Not Comfortable, REALLY HARD break in, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Super heavy duty, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: All around hunter, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are exceptional quality except for the width. I am a C width and thes suckers feel too small for me. That's actually why I bought them. Not sure if they will ever break in to fit me. I still may have to send them back and exchange for bigger "wider" ones. I would suggest NOT buying them unless you have a B width foot.
Narrow Low-Volume Boot of Awesome By It's My Duty to Fit Dat Booty! from Seattle, WA on 11/21/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Fits Low VolumeNarrow, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This boot design was the culmination of thousands of foot measurements at 'the company that made them' before they were bought by 'another company'. Yes, it fits narrow and also very low volume. This is a direct relationship with reducing internal movement in the heel. These boots are for all the people i've measured that are long, thin, and really hard to fit. Just ask any of them as a good chunk of the major boot makers are making wider fitting boots. Bottom Line: These boot are ridiculously awesome for the right fit. Good for dayhikes and 50lbs loads for multiple days in wet conditions. Add yer gaiters, footbed of choice and it's totally on. Great for edging, rockslide telemarking, and rocking out!
PS: Ankles come stiff, so modify with rubbing bar
By Andy from Salem VA on 09/29/2008 Cons: Expensive, Low Quality Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The leather was really thin and one of the speed lace rings almost pulled clear through the leather. Maybe I just got a bad pair, but they seemed like a poorly made boot considering the price.
By J.J. from b-town from Indiana on 07/15/2008 Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I shouldn't have tried them out on a 6 hour day.
My feet are killing me!
Width not consistent with other Montrail By Tunacan from Chesapeake, VA on 03/09/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a big fan of the Montrail Torre GTX and the Montrail Traverse which both fit the same in identical sizes. So, I figured that the Blue Ridge would fall in line with the other two. However, the Blue Ridge was considerably more narrow than its two contemporaries. On a positive note: Sierra Trading Post made returning and exchanging this product easier than any company that I have dealt with so far.
By Skibum from Grand Canyon on 03/08/2008 Pros: Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Not bad looking if you like Nubuck. Padding is adequate, sole is sufficiently knobby.
Problems are that the boot upper seems cut a little short in the instep, not good for those of us with high insteps. Also, width across the forefoot is disturbingly narrow, freakish even. It fits OK in length, true to size, but if your feet are even average width...look elsewhere.
By Hiker Dude from Portland, OR on 02/28/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Surprising narrow, Top padding very thick Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: good support; nice looks; but would not purchase at full retail price.
