Did not hold up for more than a year By Dog walker from Battle Ground, WA on 05/19/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Not Durable/Wears Easily, Not Water Resistant Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I loved these boots when I first bought them, very comfortable and waterproof, but after one year of walking my dogs every morning, I found a split in the rubber on both boots and now they are no longer waterproof. I'm still looking for a good boot that can hold up to daily use.
By loving the trails all over the world from Boulder, CO on 05/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Light and comfortable, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I go through 5-6 pairs of hiking boots a year and rarely stray from Asolos. These were a very pleasant surprise and I will definitely keep an eye on Montrail boots in the future

By Sheeerb from Telluride, CO on 03/15/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These "boots" have very little padding, it hurts to take long walks, especially if you have a pack on. They are amazing once you get on rock, really great as a scrambling shoe, just don't put down too many miles.
By Wood shed girl from Minnesota on 01/24/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Have a narrow foot and found that I am able to lace boots and keep foot stable using my inserts. I always struggle with finding a hiking boot that fits in the length and isn't too wide. Did not require much break. Would buy again. I wear an consistently wear an 8.5 shoe and found the 9.5 boots to fit the best for hiking/walking.
By fb2beach from Lake County, Florida on 01/16/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Durable, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Still getting used to the midboot. Ankles were not used to it the first time. But support and comfort made it worth breaking in the first time.
Ugly, But Great Value for the Money! By dc_rd from Washington, DC on 01/13/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted a somewhat light-weight day hiker/weekend backpacking boot for the muddy/wet season in the mid-atlantic (October-April-ish).
These boots are working out well so far! They are extremely light weight for their stability, have a great traction/grip and definitely keep my ankles in place. That being said, they are kind of stiff in the uppers in the first few times out, but I think they will adjust with time. Definitely able to keep my feet dry, but not get too hot, which is difficult to do with Goretex.
I normally wear a 7.5, but the 8 is a great fit with a mid-weight hiking sock. Great arch support too!
My only negatives is they are indeed kind of ugly, but functional for the trail and uses I wanted them for. They could be a little more soft/cushiony but for the price I paid I wasnt expecting supreme comfort.
By SIoux from NY on 01/12/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Great Traction Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These are well made and comforatble on the foot- however, they need to be a little bit taller- as the edge of the boot rubs on my ankle bone as I walk. I tried thicker socks, but still had some chaffing.
By LF from Wisconsin on 01/07/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Grass, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just got back from Ireland and wore these boots every day. I did not have a chance to "break" them in before I left. They are very well made and there are no parts of the boot which caused blisters. The gore-tex was ok, but not completely water proof for tramping through bogs. I love how the boot is so light and almost feels like a basketball hi-top. Very light weight!
