By Cerebellum in Training from B'more on 12/08/2008 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: They felt great right out of the box. Waterproof so far, and very stable which makes them perfect for uneven or rocky trails.
By hikergal from PA on 11/29/2008 Pros: Easy On/Off, Lightweight Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This shoe hits me right at the ankle and rubs a little. But I decided to keep em because the rest of the fit is good. I've only wore them once and hope they stretch out a little on the sides; so that I don't end up with sore ankles when I do longer hikes. I'll post again after I've worn them longer.
Best Hikers I've ever worn By Sundance Girl from Bozeman, MT on 07/22/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Light weight, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The struggle to find great hiking boots has plagued me forever - until I ordered these boots. I have a narrow foot - not in width, length-wise, but narrow from the top of my foot to the sole. I constantly have issues with boots being too loose on my toes. The laces on these boots enabled me to cinch down the boot to my desired comfort level - the first boots I've ever found that will allow for much lace adjustment. Besides that wonderful attribute, these boots are sturdy, wear well on the first trip out, breathable, and have gore-tex almost to the top. I love them, I live in them. A fantastic buy. I'm a Montrail girl for life.
By Day Hiker from Northern California on 05/14/2008 Pros: Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for a pair of light hikers, for the times when my Montrail Torres were too much. I tried several pairs from other manufacturers, but they felt sloppy and didn't provide much support. These are great. Very grippy and lots of support. I have a narrow foot, so the narrow toe box is perfect for me. My husband tried the men's verrsion, and he couldn't get his foot all the way into the boot.
Awesome & Well Built Shoe, Great Support By Loves Life from Woodinville, WA on 03/28/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really liked the arch support in these boots. They felt like they would hold up to the job.
Heard great things but not for me By Mtn Girl from Cleveland, GA on 03/26/2008 Cons: Stiff, Very narrow across toes Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Unfortunately I didn't get to try this shoe out - two sizes fit weird. I ordered 1/2 size larger like recommended, but very narrow across toes. So, ordered another step up and they were WAY too big. Both sizes (10, 10.5) seemed extra long, but the toe box was super narrow, especially across my outside toes... I have never needed wide shoes and was very excited about my first Montrails... unfortunately had to go with something else.
By Love2Hike from West Coast on 03/19/2008 Pros: Good Traction, Good Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Dirt trails, Hills, Muddy terrain Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I expected these to work well enough, but I did not expect them to end up being my preferred boot/shoe to take to the hills everyday! They are very comfortable. I have a fairly wide foot, but they fit perfect. Sizing is about 1/2 size short. I wear 6&1/2 in all boots, but the 7 in these worked perfect. I love the lightweight support, but my only complaint is they are a bit hard to look at, kind of ugly (why I rated them only 4 stars). I'd buy them again, unless I could find a nice looking boot with all these features, but so far this is the best I've found.
