I would buy this product again By Di from Poulsbo, WA on 03/30/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my third pair. I'm a daily walker, 3 to 5 or more miles a day, and I have a hard-striking stride. These shoes hold up very well; the arch support is substantial and the heel supportive and cushioning at the same time.
Disappointed but an ok shoe By Sam Runner from Sacramento, CA on 08/24/2008 Pros: Durable, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I researched many shoes before deciding on the Hardrock based on the raving reviews online- I needed a trail runner that would put up with muddy trails during runs, and also a good walking, water-resistant shoe I can take with me when I travel. I have only ran in this shoe (not traveled with it yet)- and every 3 minutes on every run, I have to stop to re-tie the laces! I plan on buying different laces but given that I've had many running shoes in the past that have never had this issue, it is a bummer that I have to deal with the inconvenience of buying different laces! Besides that, an ok shoe so far. I am glad I read online to buy a half size bigger, as the bigger size fits good.

I wear one pair for work, one pair for outdoor use, and one pair for casual use.
great shoe with high arch support By berkeley walker from berkeley, ca. on 07/26/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've tried many, many other shoes for day hikes and city walks, and haven't found another with such good arch support. I walked in my last pair for two years, and wanted to replace them with the exact same shoe.
These shoes are not true to size. By Ro from Florida on 07/24/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are attractive, but are no where near close to true size. I ordered larger than usual, and had to send them back immediately.
By kt g from seattle on 07/23/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been dealing with plantar fasciatis and was looking for supportive shoes aside from my running shoes - these shoes helped ease my pain in about 3 days - no joke. much better than my running shoes.
i wear them as daily shoes, but look forward to starting to jog again with them and doing some light hiking. so happy! they do run 1/2 size small - i'm an 8 ad the 8 1/2 fits great.

By Theresabob from the midwest on 07/15/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Looking, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Running, Walking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love these Montrails. I have purchased this shoe for 2 years now. They are a stable shoe-the sole is sturdy and doesn't flex much which makes them a good day hiker shoe. I require a solid, non-flexible shoe for my feet so I also wear this shoe for runninig, and for everyday use. I love the colors and the style.
By CaliHiker from Culver City CA on 07/14/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had to get these in a full size larger than my normal size (eek a size 10)... but they are fantastic. Very supportive and stable. Would be really good for hikes on unstable rocky terrain in summer... for below the ankle, non-leather hiking shoe, these are super stable. Good arch support too.
