warm, attractive with nice touch of art By Rick the gardener from Houston, TX on 04/13/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Not serrated, Unique Cons: Will they hold an edge Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The touches of artistic design surprised me. I think they have a very nice look. Perhaps not so much for a formal dinner, however. I need to use them more to have a better and broader picture.
By Julie from San Francisco on 03/09/2009 Describe Yourself: High-end Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: After doing some research, I found out that Laguoile is a region in France, and there are many knife manufactureres in the area using the Lagouile name. Each specific manufacturer also puts their name (in this case, Baledo) on the knife. Unfortuantely, I found the Baledo product was poor quality - the handle was rough, the stamping on the blade was uneven, and worst, the knife blade was not sharp!
By Curt from Door County, Wi on 02/04/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable Describe Yourself: High-end Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Luxury in a steak knife! One knows immediately that the heft and ergonomics of these knives speak of quality. The olive wood handle lends itself to this masterpiece. I can't wait for "steak night" so I can break these out.
The presentation box is wonderful and yes, The small wooden blocks holding the knives had snapped off but a small dab of Elmer's quickly fixed things. A true 5 star value.
By Granite like a rock from Colorado on 01/05/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Unique Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I gave these as a gift and got myself some and really like them. Not sure what others don't like.
Buyer beware! Not as pictured. By ATM from San Diego, CA on 08/10/2008 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Total disappointment. Handles are NOT olive wood, but appear to be horn or plastic. Craftsmanship is abysmal -- running my finger over the decorative edges of the knives I nearly cut myself on the rough metal. The wooden boxes they came in were cracked and broken. Not at all what I would associate with the Laguiole name.
By choralsinger from san jose CA on 07/24/2008 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I returned this. The handle was rough and poorly constructed.
By BBQ lover from Walnut Creek CA on 07/14/2008 Describe Yourself: High-End Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These knives do not seem up to the same quality standards as the other Laguole products I own. I am reminded of products manufactured specifically for an outlet store rather than first quality items.
