By The Old Guy from Crestline, CA on 07/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Non Slip Cons: Bulky Roll Up, Difficult To Inflate, Heavy Best Uses: Car Camping, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Reasonable for the price. Difficult to inflate. "self-inflating" is not an accurate description. Relatively heavy and bulky, not for long pack trips.
By Jarhead from Quantico, VA on 07/21/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Non Slip Best Uses: Car Camping, Extended Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great product. This pad is wide and thick enough for an adult to use and still sleep comfortably. The sleeping pad comes with two elastic straps, a small repair kit and a carrying case. While a little bulky and heavy, its size is greatly overcome by its comfort. Great value for the price!
Good impression after few days trip By vitg from Boston, MA on 07/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Design, Easy To Inflate Best Uses: Car Camping, Extended Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is heavier then my another ThermARest "Basic camp" mat, but it is thicker and one side is covered with less slipping material, inflates well and fast.
I recoommend it, if you don't care about some extra weight.
A bit heavy, but luxurious. By BrianOfAtlanta from Atlanta, GA on 07/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Inflate, Non Slip Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wider and thicker than a "normal" pad, with a nonstick bottom which would probably hold to the side of a mountain. Who cares if it's a bit heavy to take in a backpack? My wife likes this better than an air mattress, and if she's happy then I'm happy.
Good value for car camping. By Every sport, any time. from New Jersey on 06/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Design, Easy To Inflate Cons: Bulky Roll Up, Heavy, Slips Easily Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pad is great for car camping. Held up to a 5 and 2 year old jumping all over the tent. It is a little too heavy for backpacking unless weight is not an issue. The surface is a little slippery when used with a nylon shell sleeping bag.
Excellent comfort but heavy By TJ from Boulder, CO on 06/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Design, Easy To Inflate, Non Slip Cons: Bulky Roll Up, Heavy Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Even though the pads are very comfortable and seem to be well made & durable, I can only suggest then for car camping. They are just to bulky and heavy for backpacking.
By Stizz from Billings, MT on 06/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Compact Roll Up, Durable Design, Easy To Inflate, Lightweight, Non Slip Best Uses: Backpacking, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pad was very comfortable and inflates easily. My only complaint would be that it would have been nice to have it wider. Any wider, though, and it would be harder to pack. I had to buy a taller dry bag to fit it in. I used on a 4-day rafting and camping trip and found it handy.
By Camper Steve from Jersey City, NJ on 06/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Compact Roll Up, Easy To Inflate, Non Slip Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought two of these pads to use on a recent car camping trip. It takes a little blowing to fully inflate but not a big deal, and once inflated it held it's shape for 4 nights with no problems. Deflating was easy too. Both my friend and I thought the pads were very comfortable and they gave us a good night sleep.
By Rolex Three-Day Event Camper from SE Michigan on 05/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Compact Roll Up, Durable Design, Easy To Inflate, Lightweight, Non Slip Best Uses: Car Camping, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was surprised at how comfortable such a thin pad could be! I did add more air by mouth because it didn't seem firm enough with the self-inflation, but it was very easy and fast, and remained well-inflated for the entire weekend. I couldn't feel the ground at all once I laid down on this pad and was happy that I didn't slip around as I have on other sleep pads. I used this pad three nights on a long weekend car-camping trip and slept very well. When it was time to pack up, it deflated and rolled back up quite nicely.
