By bluesisgreat from upstate NY on 09/04/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Inflate, Non Slip Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was moving to a new job before my household goods were being delivered, but I already had the lease on my new apartment.
I got this to serve as my bed for the one week lag, instead of one of those bulky air mattresses, and I am very impressed. This mat exceeded my expectations (always high!) in terms of comfort. It even has a slight raise for the head, equivalent to a half inch pillow, which I thought showed a lot of attention to detail.
I used it on hardwood floors - and it felt nice and cushy. The underside is no-slip, so it was not sliding around.
I am confident that my guests will also feel comfortable on it, if the need arises to use it, and I'm also sure that if I ever go car camping I will pack it up.

This pad is built for comfort with it's thick built in pad, pillow and non slip bottom. I have used it for overnights at friends places last season and camping this summer.I have a lighter pad for backpacking. This plush pad rates 4star in the comfort dept!
By Marblehead from Aspen, CO on 07/20/2009 Cons: Bulky Roll Up, Heavy Best Uses: Car Camping, Extended Trips, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I returned these units simply because I didn't do my homework in researching them and until the arrived, didn't realize how HUGE they were! Great for car camping but not anything else, in my opinion. I was searching for backpacking pads and these are not for that use at all. Poor selection on my part

By ministercreek from Back in Madison Wisconsin on 04/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Perfect size Cons: Does not hold air leaks Best Uses: Car Camping, Extended Trips, Living in a tent, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I initially purchased this self-inflater for my camping year around. You see I live in my tent.
Some of the things I do like about this particular mat is the size. It's perfect and very comfortable when it has/holds air. However I have discovered, all to my great horror, it leaks continually. This is the second such mat. The first one was not holding air either I returned it to STP for a replacement. The replacement is no better than the first-it leaks too. I truly suspect the valves are the culprit here.
I will be returning this one too once I get my Therm-A-Rest. Better to spend money on something that holds air than leaks all the time. I would stay away from this ALPS Mountaineering Pine Ridge Mat.
