The bad news is that the second pair did not fit at all! Although I bought the same size, the light blue pair was much looser than the first pair I bought. Despite this problem, it is still a nice short and may end up fitting a wider variety of body types?

The waist is designed to fall about 1" below naval. I ordered the 10 but could take them on and off without unbuttoning. I ordered the 8 and could barely button them. There is a more than 2" difference between size 10 and size 8. Size 10 has about a 34" waist; size 8 has about a 31.5" waist. The hips have about the same difference. I ended up altering the 10 to make it 1.5" smaller. Now I love these shorts.

Most Columbia stuff tends to run small so I ordered these a size larger. It turns out though that this particular style seems to stay pretty true to size. One wash and dry though and I think they are fine. This does bring up one odd thing about these shorts - they wrinkle like crazy. There was no way to wear them without ironing so if you aren't big on ironing you might want to reconsider...
