It actually allows for a little customization of the waist size. I don't think the skirt is overly noisy. It runs large - I normally wear a size 12 in pants (thought I am pear shaped and my waist is more like a size 10), and a medium fits me well. It is great for every-day wear running errands, when I want something a little nicer than shorts.

I ordered two because the price was fabulous. I love it and wear it at least once a week as I have a casual job. I also wear it golfing or just running around to do errands.

I did not know it would be a crinkly nylon skirt- i.e. noisy. Not somethign I could ever wear to the office and not comfortable enough to wear casually. Fit was just fine so it might be good for a very outdoorsy athletic person.
