Mesh pockets will be good for water sports, not as good for golf. Fit is perfect and the finish is comfortable.

Sharp looking, multi-sport pants By outdoor gal from Virginia on 04/09/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable, Stylish Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these pants for my boyfriend's birthday--and they were a hit. The grey color is great! The pants look very nice. In the shorts he has hiked, played racquetball, run, and played disc golf. He bikes in the pants to school, zips them off for working out, and then puts them back on. The shorts are a good length and not too tight.
