I think it's intentional, but it does have faded strips on it. It is closed with snaps that start quite low, so it may be best for someone who is taller than my 5'2". But, I do love the looks of the shirt. It feels so feminine as well as casual.

They are really almost a "cap" sleeve. Also, although the rest of the shirt fit correctly, it felt tight across my shoulders in everyday wear.
