LOVE the hat (but it is warm) By New England Preppy from Massachusetts on 08/21/2009 Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Practical Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love the hat. They only had the L/XL when I bought it, and my head is a bit on the smaller side, but it's fine. It just looks a little extra floppy, which is cute. And it has an adjustable ribbon to tighten it down if you want to (and it manages to tighten down without making me look like a mega dork).
I love everything about this hat, and it works super great at keeping mosquitos off. I love the huge brim, and it would be great for hiking through the woods and keeping bugs off your head. I'll probably buy another one to loan out when friends come to visit (we live in the woods, so people are always surprised by our thriving bug population).
It is hot though. Marketing this as a sun hat is kind of crummy. It is made of two layers of heavy canvas, so it gets warm. I like it that way for camping, and it's fine even for warm summer evenings. But I wouldn't want to be hiking in the hot sun with this thing on, for sure.
As a bug hat...5 stars. As a sun hat...2 stars.
Great hat--beyond expectations. Versatile styling. Great looking--the perfect
outdoor hat.
Cute, heavy duty, works great By Cynthia from Montana on 06/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual, Comfort-oriented, Trendy Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Holds its shape despite being attacked by toddlers, cute color. Not for the hottest of days, but then again, no hat really is. Keeps the mosquitos off and provides a lot of shade. I love it.
By glemt from lancaster PA on 06/21/2009 Pros: Adjustable, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Northern european summer, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual, Comfort-oriented, Practical, Seek good quality, Stylish Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The hat is fun, I love the orange with khaki lining. You can adjust the brim in many stylish and becoming ways. The hat is a sun protector too, and if it really keeps gnats and flies and mosquitos from my face and hair it will be pure perfection.
By Texas from Texas on 06/15/2009 Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Hat will travel well, but I returned it since it seemed like it would be too hot for my destination. The canvas did not seem to breath.
Great value and fits great. By Just retired!! from South Carolina on 08/13/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Casual, Practical Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love the insect repellent. We live in the South along with many insects.
By Jenny from Austin, TX on 07/26/2008 Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Describe Yourself: Casual, Stylish, Trendy Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great hat, but needs to have air holes to be able to vent. Has good coverage and slip knot keeps it sturdy in high winds. Took it hiking, on the beach, on a boat ride and to a festival.
Ready for an Egyptian Dig By Rivah Dog from Warrenton, VA on 07/22/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Practical Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This hat is great for keeping you out of the sun and insect free. My only negative comment is that it is somewhat hot- A lighter weight version or pehrhaps a ventilated construction would be perfect.
This hat proved very useful By Love to Travel from Seattle, WA on 07/14/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Effective Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual, Comfort-oriented, Mosquito-hating, Practical Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Traveled to southern France and wore hat in strong sun and 90 F plus degrees. Stylish enough and saved my skin from the sun. At night I slept with it near my face and it kept the mosquitoes from biting. When it was windy I used the chin strap, ie at the seashore of the Mediterranean. When not needed I just folded it up in my bag. It never wrinkeled. I love it!
