By Mamadog from Boulder, CO on 09/18/2009 Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Has more pockets than described, which is excellent: 2 inside pockets, one for Ipods with wiring loops, in addition to 3 exterior pockets plus the pass pocket. Snow skirt inside can attach to pants' belt loops. Very well made. A bit stiffer feel than I expected from the descriptions. Look forward to getting this out in the snow at which time I may post a second review. Fit is a bit odd if you are petite (I'm 5'2"). Sleeves are long (to my fingertips) and small of back is a bit bulky. I would rather that the jacket body were longer and the sleeves shorter. I wear a 4 top and bought a Small (4-6, red) especially since other reviewers say Cloudveil runs large. Boxy would be a better description. I doubt I'd be able to get a very thick sweater under this. I hope it's warm enough that I won't need to! (I mention the color because the different colors are actually made differently; see STP's photos.)
The style is not as flattering as my good ol' red Northface alpine ski jacket from the early '80's. But, hey, I don't look as good either!
By SPAC MOM from SEATTLE on 02/23/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Well Made Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is by far the best, warmest, functional softshell jacket I have ever owned.
Having the small amount of insulation makes this jacket great for colder days on the slopes. Amazingly Light weight, not bulky at all, Perfect amount of pockets. The Pass pocket is a BIG plus, as it is on the arm and has a little hook and cord. With the new chip passes it is perfect as it needs to be inside your jacket. I use a lightweight base layer and the Coudveil Run don't Walk midlayer(which I also highly recommend). With just the three layers I stay extremely warm. Recommendations. If you ski hard and fast, this jacket will be best for colder weather. 20 degrees on average. I get hot at 30 degrees- plus and the the pit zips do not work as well but are still effective. Cloudveil comes through again . GREAT PRODUCT and I highly recommend it.
By RunnergirlNM from Los Alamos, NM on 01/30/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket runs large, Coudveil in general runs big, so I got a size smaller than I usually order, and it fits great. A beautiful jacket. I like it better than I thought I would. It's very warm. It's my new favorite skiing jacket
Best "all around softshell made" By Satisfied Sierra Trading Post Cust. from Bountiful, Utah on 11/13/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Well Made Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After searching, buying, and returning numerous softshell jackets for my wife, I finally found a jacket that she can wear and feel comfortable in.
She can now ditch her shell and fleece and wear one jacket for everything. This jacket is really an excellent product. No complaints from my wife after wearing for 2 weeks in show, rain and cold weather.
