The sizing is definitely for kids. It would be too small for all but the smallest adult heads, and is a little large for infants. We purchased this for our 18 month old for insect and sun protection. It was far too big for her, but the elastic draw string allowed us to adjust the size to fit a little better.
The pink/red color is more of a watermelon color than it looks in the photo.
All in all, it is a great hat, and she will get lots of use out of it.
