There's an inside waist-tie that you can use to make a better fit around the waist. The material seems high quality and abrasion resistant, which will help while hiking. They're just the right longer length, just above the knees. I loved them so much and for the price with a discount coupon, I purchased two pair.

This one fits my needs. I like the lightweight fabric, cut, and style. I liked this short so much that I ordered another one. A minor change I would suggest is to have a partial elastic waist rather than the drawstring adjustment.
