Don't Do It - If UR dog dsn't gag U will By MN Dog Lover from Minnesota on 10/28/2009 Cons: AWFUL SMELL, Breaks Easily, Cheap rubber - broke up, Choking Hazard, Dog Doesn't Like It, Not Much Fun Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: When I opened the box that these came in (I ordered 2, one for both of my dogs) I was immediately overwhelmed by the intense rubber smell. It was stronger than a new set of tires. Even if you were someone who doesn't worry much about the safety of the chemical makeup of things your dog plays with - this 'toy' would give you pause. But, I figured in the end if they sell it, it must be safe and the smell will go away. One dog won't go near it, even if I put peanut butter on the inside of it. The other dog, at least went after the peanut butter. The thing is, he is not real strong and even he bit a piece of the rubber off the first (and only) time he used it. There is a reason it was only [$]. It was NOT worth it at all.
By dottie from pgh pa on 10/22/2009 Cons: Breaks Easily, Choking Hazard Best Uses: Puppies, Smaller Dogs Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This stick is made of rubber but I question the other ingredients. My springer spaniel chewed a large piece off of the stick within 2 minutes. I had to throw the toy away. Lesson learned.
Great for dogs who like to chew... By Mtn Grrl from Colorado on 09/29/2009 Best Uses: Active Dogs, Larger Dogs, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I know other people didn't rate this product very high, but my dog loves these (this is the 3rd one I've bought...) Luckily, she's a chewer-not an eater, because she chews it in tiny pieces. She does this to most of her toys and this one lasts a long time. Hours of mulching fun.
By Madlabs from Waunakee, WI on 08/26/2009 Pros: Colorful, Dog Likes It, Easy to Clean, Fun, Safe, Tough Best Uses: Active Dogs, Larger Dogs, Older Dogs, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have both the large and now the medium size and my labs love the medium one the best. It is tough and doesn't splinter or break off. So far it is pretty Labrador proof (8 of em vie for it in the yard). Great for land retrieves and tug of war!
By Kazara from Somewhere in the Universe on 08/09/2009 Pros: Dog Likes It, Easy to Clean, Fun, Safe, Tough Best Uses: Active Dogs, Larger Dogs, Older Dogs, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Our Top Dog loves these sticks. Better than wood ones, which he eats, this goes on and on and on. Just don't let your dog lie down and use it as a chew toy!
By Lrtbargains from Long Island on 04/13/2009 Cons: Breaks Easily, Choking Hazard Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: breaks apart easily & makes a mess. Lucky, my dog doesn't eat the pieces but I can see how it can cause choking & digestive problems.
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By Carrie from Max, MN on 04/12/2009 Cons: Breaks Easily, Choking Hazard, Dog Doesn't Like It, Induces vomiting if chewe Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I owned this product for two months and could not get my Boston Terrier or Black lab to play with it, and they LOVE to fetch and they LOVE all their toys, I put treats inside of it so they would fetch it, thinking it is a strong toy and if they would play with it I would get my money out of it, they both fetched it and chewed at the ends, seemingly harmless since it is a DOG CHEW TOY!! within 2 hours they were both vomiting, my Lab vomited twice and my Boston Terrier vomited 9 times in a period of two hours, I thought he had pancreatitus, it is the most terrible dog toy I have ever bought and would like to know how to get my money back, My boston is 6 years old and I spend around $500 a year just on toys for him and have NEVER had an experience as bad as this, these toys should be removed from the market immediately!
By agility enthusiast from Harpers Ferry, WV on 03/24/2009 Pros: Dog Likes It, Easy to Clean, Tough Cons: Smells mabye not healthy Best Uses: Larger Dogs, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This stick has a very strong smell. I am concerned it may be volatizing dangerous chemicals that could be dangerous for my dog. I am sending back even though my dog likes it. Also, even the medium stick is big.
Little dogs love this, too! By J from Las Vegas from Las Vegas on 02/19/2009 Pros: Dog Likes It, Easy to Clean, Fun, Safe, Tough Best Uses: Active Dogs, Indoors, Larger Dogs, Smaller Dogs Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My mini aussie puppy loves this. It is almost as big as he is. My older, large dog ignores.
Good buy.
Beware of this chew - STRONG odor By Worried pet owner from Marin County, CA on 02/17/2009 Cons: Breaks Easily, Toxic-like smell Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for my 3 month old puppy and she had no problem chewing chunks off in rapid fashion. Fortunately she wasn't swallowing the pieces, but I was still concerned. I was also concerned from the beginning because the chew had a smell that was very strong and reminded me of something toxic - like old tires burning or something like that. When the smell didn't got away after an hour or so, I decided it wasn't just a new product smell. I took the chew away that she started and have returned it along with the 3 unopened packages. I should have read the other reviews before buying.
