I keep buying Icebreaker because it's high-quality
and holds up well with time.
I backpacked in this shirt for 4 months By cottonkid from Tampa, FL on 06/01/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Good Fit, High Quality, Stylish, Versatile, Washes Well Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Career, Casual, Classic Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore this shirt almost daily for four months while backpacking through New Zealand and Australia. I washed it in machines and in basins; dried it by wringing and through driers. Except for a uniform yellowing, it feels and looks exactly the same as the day I bought it. Then and since, I've worn it happily through rain and winter, as well as taking it out regularly for Tampa-hot summertime runs. Unlike my old polypros, which managed to stink even after they'd been washed, this shirt was never odiferous. If you border between sizes, I think you'll be happier sizing down with Icebreaker clothing. I'm not a clotheshorse or a gearnerd, and I'm curmudgeonly with money; but I've been so thrilled with the comfort, durability, and presumed environmental friendliness of these shirts and this line, that I've found myself amassing a bit of a collection--even when they're not on sale.
By PDX Gal from Portland, OR on 05/09/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Good Fit, High Quality, Stylish, Versatile, Washes Well Best Uses: Casual Work Days, Comfort-Oriented, On The Weekend, Outdoor activities Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Casual Length: Feels true to length Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this for an upcoming bike tour in France. Something I could wear cycling, but then go into a restaurant or tourist attraction and not feel I looked out of place. I think this will fit the bill. Very elegant drape to the fabric, very soft and comfortable. Wore it on a 22 mile bike ride, sweated a bit, but it seemed to wick well and dry out pretty quickly. It's also long, so tucks in and stays in place. You could also wear to work. The color bands add a bit of flair. My first Icebreaker purchase, and I'm pleased.

another great icebreaker shirt By ade from Denver CO on 04/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Good Fit, High Quality, Versatile, Washes Well Best Uses: Comfort-Oriented, On The Weekend, Outdoors Length: Feels true to length Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is another great Icebreaker shirt at a great price. I really can't stop buying this brand because it never disappoints. I wear a large in Icebreaker, but normally a medium in other brands. This top is a little shorter than some of my other Icebreakers, but it is still plenty long. I will probably buy more before they're all gone.
By hs from Delaware on 04/08/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Wonderful fabric Cons: Narrow in the shoulder Best Uses: Casual, Workout Describe Yourself: Active outdoors, Bargain Shopper Length: Feels true to length Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This wool is good stuff, great for a wide temperature range, durable, doesn't get stinky like synthetics, and it holds color beautifully and drapes well. This Tshirt is a somewhat slim fit so order up if you want it looser. Its also narrow through the shoulders on me, which is not a problem I usually have.
By SFKelly from San Francisco, CA on 03/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Good Fit, Not scratchy, Warm Best Uses: Casual Work Days, Comfort-Oriented, On The Weekend, To School, To Work Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Casual, Classic Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: On a trip to New Zealand last year, my husband bought some Icebreaker shirts and raved about how comfortable they were. I tried on a long sleeve version, but as a short-armed petite person, the sleeves were stupidly long and I was unimpressed. But then I noticed that he didn't complain about temperature if he was wearing his Icebreaker wool. Warm days, cool days, cold days- the truly soft wool keeps you comfortable. So I decided to buy my own, in short sleeve versions, and I've seen the light! I now own three shirts and a pair of their long underwear, and they are some of my favorite possessions. The fabric comes in different weights. This particular shirt is rather thin wool, but it's still quite warm. It's fitted, but not too tight. The scoop neck is quite high for a T-shirt.Unlike most high-tech fabrics, this shirt doesn't smell bad after wearing, even if you sweat in it. It can be machine washed, but not dried.[...]
Super Comfy All-Around Active Tee By a4naught from Santa Ana, CA on 03/05/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Fit, No stink, Versatile Best Uses: Comfort-Oriented, For Workouts, On The Weekend, Year-round Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Casual, Comfort Fiend, Eclectic Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Unless you like a more snug fit, this shirt runs about a size small, at least for me. I usually fit a women's medium, but went with a large and it is a good fit, per some of the other reviewers. What this means is that if you are amply endowed in front (or back, literally), or more muscular, or "fluffier" or have larger arms than the twiggy things you see in ads, go a size bigger. Despite the banded style, the arms are a good size for those of us who have "real size" upper arms. Not the cap style, but not too long (a la men's shirts). VERY comfortable, itch-free fabric that keeps you warm or cool, regardless of the weather or season.
Breathes so well and doesn't stink after a lot of sweating, so you won't gross yourself, or others out after your workout, or even just wearing it for a day. Absolutely superior to the synthetics in that regard.
Also, unlike so many women's tees, it has a nice around the neck cut, not the hang-your-bra-straps-out, wide neck style that I find so annoying.
Colorful and a little retro-trendy, if you like that sort of thing. Me, the comfort and no-stink qualities are the trump cards. Merino is the new poly-pro meets cotton, but won't kill you outdoors in cold weather, get crispy over time, or catch flies, no matter how long you wear it.
Watch out though. Once you go merino, you may never go back.
