High quality; classy design By blueorleans from Caldwell, NJ on 02/13/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Reviews all on target. A little snug, but you don't want motorcycle clothing too loose. It's winter gear so warm I rarely need to activate my battery-heated vest, even in 30-degree temps. And it's light, too, for all the warmth and protection. This was my introduction to Hein Gericke gear, and I liked it so much I bought the matching Maxwell pants recently when in England. P.S. Hein Gericke U.K. also offers a summer Maxwell version of jacket and pants. Their website says they don't ship to the U.S., but they told me in person that they're flexible.
By Michael Michael Motorcycle from Aspen, CO on 01/28/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Practical, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Simply one of the best deals I've ever gotten from STP, and I've gotten alot! The comments on sizing were on the money. I'm a 42L, and would have ordered Large, but XL is perfect. Keep an eye on the price, and buy with confidence! BTW, it's not vented at all- not a warm weather jacket, even without the liner. The padding is a bit bulky, but I've never seen any that wasn't, and it's well worth the protection.
By onebadlt from so cal. on 01/22/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought one size up and the fit is just right, except for the collar closure, which is too tight. I will have it altered.
By stylin' on my ride from Port Orchard, Washington on 01/22/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable, Warm and air tight Cons: Zippers could be bigger Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Be aware of the sizing differences. I purchased one about 1 to 1 1/2 sizes larger than I wear and it fits well. It is very warm, I ride year around as long as there's no ice. The front has two zippers and a flap for sealing so cold air does not enter the coat. The zippers work fine but I like them to be larger, although that could let more air flow through. It has been around freezing the last few mornings and I have been very comfortable.
Bought this for my boyfriend By PAperfect from LA area, CA on 01/21/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: He was impressed with the quality for the price. What is said in the other reviews is true. You must buy at least 1 size larger but probably best to buy 2 sizes larger.
This is a good jacket, bottom line. By scooter from nyc on 01/18/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable, Stylish, Super windproof, Tough, WARM Best Uses: Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is great. warm, and windproof. I use it in 20 degree plus weather. It's a little heavy, but given the fact that its meant for cold weather, it's what you'd expect. Most of the other reviews I read were on point. overall a fantastic jacket.
Big on quality, small on size By Jimbeemer from Atlanta, GA on 01/17/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Tough, Warm Waterproof Cons: Bulky, Heavy and Stiff, Uncomfortable Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather Motorsports: All Weather Daily Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Very well made; top quality materials and workmanship. But pay heed to the reviews. I did and ordered 2XL instead of my normal L, but the jacket still is very confining. Especially the neck is uncomfortably tight, even after I added another snap as far as possible to the edge of the collar, I cannot button it. This precludes layering in the manner that I am accustomed. The jacket is fine over minimal gear for moderately cold temps, but that still leaves my neck unprotected unless I wear a gaiter on the outside of the jacket. Very disappointing in this regard. I am looking now for a very skinny friend (I am fairly lean) who could comfortably wear this......would be excellent for that person.
By Merrymonk from Easton, PA on 12/30/2008 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a very well made, attractive jacket. I am 6' tall, 170 pounds, athletic build, and I typically wear a large. I ordered the XL based on other reviews and I find the XL to fit well. The only function lacking in this kacket is venting for summer riding. The liner is removeable for warmer spring and fall riding.
By Inky McScar from New York City on 12/30/2008 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I try and ride as deep into New York City winter as I can. This Jacket makes a great addition to my foul weather arsenal. With the thermal liner, it is very warm. Without the liner, it is fine up to about 60 degrees(which we had here on December 28th this year). The best part was the price, with my e coupon I saved 256 dollars. You can't beat that.
By Transalp from Illinois on 12/26/2008 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Hope I never need the protection but it feels tough. Buy two sizes larger than normal size - it is small.
